This is my 24" GT Mach 1 BMX cruiser I ride around on with my boys. It has an extremely light weight aluminum frame.

One of the greatest days of my childhood was the day I upgraded my POS Huffy wannabe BMX bike to a used Diamondback.

Nice bike. That even looks light. About 50lbs lighter than my chrome Hutch Windstyler seemed to feel like.

Funny stumbling across this thread. I used to ride an old GT early 80’s. Lightest bike I ever had was s as diamond back formula 1. Anyone remember PK Rippers? I grew up on skateboards too, San Diego as a kid. Bought a G&S about a year and a half ago, spent a total of about 7 seconds on it. It still sits on a shelf somewhere in the garage.

Man I raced in the early 80s, so many great memories and friends I still am in contact with to this day. I've got matching '94 Redline Prolines ( 20" & 24" ) . Don't get to ride very often. I will try to post pics of them one of these days.

I've been riding bmx my whole life...only raced a couple of times. But this is the first year of racing for my son so I plan on racing more this year to share the fun with him. He just turned 6. Ill have to post photos of his setup. Ive been using my 20" trails/park Flybikes setup at the track.

I got a 22" wheel bike and am loving it. Its so much fun and waaaay faster than a 20". I highly recommend the 22" to anyone who is taller and/or older who rides.

photo: Little man in his first race. I felt bad for him because he borrowed a micro mini race bike (he has been used to riding a 14" freestyle bmx bike) and he got placed into 8yr old novice group racing with bigger, experienced kids. he did really well though, had fun and wanted . So we went out and bought him a used Haro Mini Racelite bike.

20" flybikes Aire II that I use mostly for dirt jumps and parks.

22" Fit that has quickly become my favorite bike and is already going through major changes to make it even better

You definitely need to post a pic of them! Those would likely pull big money if you ever wanted to sell them.

I wish they had the original graphics, could not find any, even repops. I put '80 graphics on them. I will try to post pics this week.

Do it. it feels so much faster than 20". Keeps momentum and goes fast effortlessly. Much easier to ride for old and tall dudes.

Im in the processing of upgrading this one/ basically building a new bike, so this one may be for sale eventually.

Awesome. Thinking of getting my 86' powder coated back to it's original color, lavender. Since my other post, I went ahead and picked up the 26". Rides great. Not as cramped for me being 6'3" about 290#. LoL.

Great Thread here. I raced BMX in the late 70's to early eighties, and i was one of the very few female riders at the time, Started freestyle in 83' with a redline RL20 single top tube, and was doing Miami hoppers, lawn mower's, funky chicken, rope a roni, did a lot of the tricks the guys were doing. Had my boyfriend around 87' at the time who was sponsored by General Bikes give me an Osborne pro and that's when the tricks started rolling. My favorite was riding the quarter pipe and half, but the half pipe was a skaters pipe with way too much vert. I dated a couple of expert riders during my time, and I did compete a couple of times, once at the converse Pro in Compton only female competitor, and in Nor Cal at the Ozone freestyle show & Contest, competed in the Socko series too but just a few times, Best flatland trick was the Roll-aid and Hang five, and my best ramp trick was the look-back. I tried getting back into freestyle because of taking my son to skate parks and thought it would be fun to get back into it until I had a bad crash at the Lind Vista Skate Park in San Diego was doing Tail taps out of the bowl and landed too far on the front end and washed out right on my face, open face helmet didn't do much. Needless to say if your not on the bike everyday riding it's going to take a while to get back into it. I may ride again I have a couple of freestyle Bikes built up from Sunday Bikes because I had that BMX itch during the covid crisis and because my son was into hitting the skateparks. Now I'm onto my off roading binge and fixing up my Tundra. Besides I'm a competitive Body builder and don't have much time to be hurting myself on my BMX bike. This is a photo of my We The People Paradox, which I sold recently to get the Sunday
    Darkwave.

Here is the family of bikes in my garage...need to find a better way to store them.

    12" Fit balance bike
    12" Fit Misfit
    14" Fit Misfit
    14" Kink Pump
    16" Haro Downtown
    20" Haro Racelite mini
    20" Flybikes Aire II
    22" Fit 22 complete
    Trek Marlin

The 16" Haro Downtown is an awesome bike that we bought brand new for my son as a surprise when he was 4 yrs old. He wasnt with us when we got it so we quickly realized it was too large for him. Then we got him the 14" Kink and he took off on it perfectly comfortable. It was lime green and he wanted it to be blue to match my bikes. Recently had it powdercoated Ford blue and am slowly building it even better than it was when we got it. He is just now getting to be the proper size for it. S & M Lil Recneck stem, Fit bars and sprocket, odyssey brakes & seat, Kink pedals. Its gonna be a bad ass little bike when its all done.

I will, still haven’t tried a 24” either. Let us know if you post it for sale.

On a side note, I may enter a mountain bike race this year. My old man-ness is moving me from the mx bike to pedals haha

Ill let you guys know when I decide to sell it. The 24" seems too big IMO. That size seems to lose to "bmx feel" , if that makes sense. The 22" feels perfect.

    Goodluck on the MTB race.

And yea Ive yet to ride the dirtbike this year....kinda nervous to get back on it , especially since Ive been having so much fun bmxing with the kids

That does make sense. Seems like a lot of people say the 24” feels more like their mountain bike and the 20” feels too twitchy.

    brrrrraaaaaapppp!

The MTB I bought and built was a DJ style 26" bike ( Transition Triple ) I set it up with gxdh group set 7 speed and a dropper post. Feels like a big BMX with suspension and gears. Not good at any particular discipline but it's a blast to ride !

AND IT LOOKS KILLER IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK

Oh wow memories. Growing up in Orange County I used to race as well. I haven't been on a bike for 25 years. I used to have a sponsorship with Power Plus Cycles. Would travel around to many tracks but our main tracks were the Orange Y and Coal Canyon. I started out riding Redlines as my buddy Billy Griggs used to be sponsored by them before going to Haro. I believe I got a Haro Elf from him then I went with the Diamondback Limo back then with my Redline flight cranks and Pitbull brakes hahaha. Good times!

Holy Sheet....this thread brings back some memories!!!!! I started racing BMX bikes back in the 80's. I still have my GT that I raced, its hanging up in my shed. I'll have to get it out and take some pictures and post them. My buddies that I raced with had a PK Ripper and a Redline. We use to race at the Pipeline in Upland, California....man do I feel old now.
