The lighting makes it look lighter than it is, because it’s almost a dead match for the brushed metal around the stereo and, at least on my truck, the “brushed” gunmetal trim directly above the glove box.

I’ve heard others use SEM charcoal metallic over SEM trim black as well for a little grey/black look.

Have some better pictures of the SEM charcoal metallic on the dash and wheel, I also changed the door handles to chrome. IMHO, this is how the truck should have be from the factory. Black on the trim parts stood out too much to me as far as contrast, the gray blend in better and matches with the original gray dash parts. The chrome on the bezels, handles, wheel emblem and shifter surround/cup holder is just enough for me. ( I like the chrome, so sue me!:))

Chrome door handle part number included ( 2 each needed)

Just as a clarification, The SEM charcoal metallic doesn't cover very well, so the black trim paint was just used as a darker base than the silver. The color is the same with 4 or 5 cotes of charcoal vs 1 black and 2 of the charcoal.

I'm about to swap out for black handles, but the SEM black + charcoal is likely what I'll do to the door trim silver.

That is exactly what I was thinking to do. Did you put any protective coating over the sem? I'm nervous it will scratch and wear too easily..

don't use that on trim parts, use the SEM or some kind of trim paint. If you pull the dash apart to paint, you have the gray trim parts off the truck, just paint everything with the SEM charcoal and it's all good!

No, it is pretty tough as is, the dash and trim don't see alot of wear per say, door handles are a different story. doesn't scratch easy in my case.

I used SEM trim paint. He wanted MGM paint color. That would work , a friend did his and had no issues.

I don't think there are any. The only piece I've found is the center dash

They are expensive if I recall someone mentioning and they were from a 4Runner IIRC. Why not just use the SEM trim black on them. It holds up well. I did all of the silver in mine.

    Black controls (2018+) are 84250-0C100-C0
You have to buy the controls with it.
Gunmetal controls from a Tacoma are 84250-04080-B1
I’ve got a set of the Tacoma ones for sale

Deeper into that thread, the part numbers for the 2018+ are listed. But I saved you some steps - they are listed in my post just above.

Yes absolutely I stand corrected. There is a Taco version in a 2020 TRD that has the same button configuration. It does look like it's metallic though which is a bummer. I might end up going the SEM Trim paint to get a solid black.

2019 and newer Tacomas have the same buttons, but a “gunmetal” trim. It’s a very close match to the grey dash trim on the TRD Pro just above the glove box.

Yeah... that’s how I ended up with color matched door handles, new radio surround, black interior door handles, cerakoted steering wheel trim, and the list continues...

HAHAHA I just ordered my door handles from ebay last week. They're due on Tuesday. I actually wouldn't mind 100% matte black in the entire entire, and I ran across a thread where someone did some red katskinz that looked awesome.

What did you do about the temperature control panel?

I actually like the gunmetal/dark grey, so I’ve left my radio surround and temp control alone. The “radio surround” I mentioned above I actually meant the bigger dash piece.
That’s why I went to cerakote tungsten on my steering trim and shifter

I wish ajt or someone made oem style shift surround and cupholder trim. I don't like the bulky look of the current ajt stuff with the fake bolts etc. Might email them and see if they're interested in doing it

The center surround you're talking about is a pice I've pondered wrapping or replacing with the black OEM parts. Now that I know I can buy the steering wheel controls in black, I have more ideas. I'm not opposed to painting I'm unsure about the durability.

The shift surround would be pretty easy to paint since it’s silver. With the cup surround being chrome, it would take a lot of prep. You can dissolve the chrome off plastic parts using household chemicals (google it - several options), but it can be slow and nasty.

Yup. Just know that the center piece is NOT flat matte black like the hood around your instruments. It has a slight charcoal metallic hint to it.

    Little confused....
So for the 2018+ the black Steering wheel radio controls and trim is 84250-0C100-C0.

What is the work around for the 2014-2017 models? Wanting black or charcoal trim and volume control button (match the radio surround).

Edit: Just found the thread on the 4Runner 8425035080C0 part. Looks good...are there any choices are matte of flat, not shiny gloss?
