So a while back I ordered an RCI fuel tank skid for the 26 gal on my 2008 DCLB (8 footer) since it's a non TRD model (ignore the bed sticker lol) and didn't even have a factory one. Long story short the front of the skid couldn't mount up because the spot where the front support strap is supposed to attach to the cab is about 2 feet forward since the tank sits entirely under the bed. I could have fabbed something up to attach to the carrier bearing support but I was fearful it could damage the carrier if I hit something hard enough. SO I am wondering if there are any solutions out there for the DCLB besides factory that fit or need very little to no modding. This may be applicable to the SCLB guys as well. Thanks a ton.

I would check a Toyota parts site, but there are different fuel tank straps on the factory TRD Off Road from the non-TRD models. The TRD Off Road package includes a tank shield, and the TRD straps have studs attached to the strap for mounting the shield. The non-TRD straps do not have these studs.

The straps aren't the problem. I had swapped out the rear strap for the studded one necessary for the RCI plate, but it was where the front of the skid plate attaches that was problematic. As stated the location where the front strap supplied with the RCI skid plate kit (doesn't use the studded strap to attach the front of the skid plate) was about 2 feet forward of where it needed to be due to the 8 foot bed. Even though it is a rip off, I may just go for the Toyota factory skid since some protection is better than none. I'm hoping some of the long bed boys chime in and share their experience.

I guess I won't be of much help. I assumed the tank would be located in the same place as the regular DC 6.5" bed and would use the same mounting points. Good luck with your search.

Yeah if you look on the 6.5' bed the tank sits half way under the cab and there's a threaded hole where the RCI strap connects to support the front of their skid. On the 8' bed the tank is entirely under the bed and there's no where to attach their supplied strap. If you look on the RCI website they now have written in red their skid doesn't fit the 8' beds, that's cause of me lol.
