I love watching Matts offroad recovery(can't wait to see the corvair on the trails doing recoveries). Bought my son a kinetic strap for his 4-runner when he started outfitting it. Wish I had gone that route with my truck, but for now just have a normal strap, will upgrade at some point in time.

Great thread by the way!! A lot of the stuff mentioned already carry in one form or another.

Any good suggestions or product reviews on a compact shovel I could throw in the truck. I’m swaying towards the SOG. Change my mind

Bubba Rope comes to mind, but overall you could probably get any major brand. Voodoo, ARB, Smittybilt...

I just ordered a set of these. I've got a rubber valve stem install tool, but its a bit of a finesse tool.
I've been in touch with Corby directly. Nothing, I mean it, comes close to ease of use and simplicity.
Very well made, they will be part of my forever truck tool kit.

    Lots of shenanigans.
I feel like you can’t go wrong with factor 55.
I went to harbor freight and got some tools that works for me. You can always go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and get the tool box sets. They’re always running deals on them. I just wanted specific sizes and the reassurance that if it got stolen then it wouldn’t break my heart.

Tool roll with 8-22mm ratcheting wrenches, 8-22mm sockets, 1973 snap-on 1/4" ratchet, extendable flex head 3/8" ratchet (husky?), 1/2" breaker bar, adjustable wrench, files, channel locks, vise grips, needle nose pliers, pick set, measuring tape, zip ties, side cutters, fixit stix with 2-6mm allens, milwaukee 9 in 1 bit driver and probably some other tool I am forgetting at this time.
Behind my seat I keep my 4' matco pry bar, folding shovel, hatchet, saw, machete, recovery boards and spare tire/jack tools. In a collapsible tote I have tow straps, ratchet straps, bungees, jumper pack, air compressor, med kit, flash light, head lamp, duct tape, tire repair kit... and I think that's it.

I like that list! I would also recommend some steel wool and a 9v battery for easy fire starter.

Oh, I do have a bag of kindling a friend gave me that I forgot about. I'm writing down steel wool and 9v for emergency fire starter. Thanks!
I keep a lighter in my camping kitchen kit, but always good to have a backup plan

We were prepping to replace my steering rack in the desert. We were lifting from both sides, driver and passenger, in soft sand. Not sure exactly what happened, I was on the other side, but things shifted and the jack itself pressed into the driver door. All fixed now though!

Which of these kits did you go with? Looks like a ton of options.

Also, is it worth it to simply carry a couple extra valve stem cores? I am always wondering if I run the risk of messing one up when I use the ARB deflator.

Yes, they're pretty cheap and good to have. I've had to replace a couple. Without carrying spare cores, I would've lost a spare tire.

Dealer item to work with the TPMS or can I buy them from my local tire store?

The TPMS won't affect it at all. I'm pretty sure I bought mine on Amazon. And if you ever need to change it, you can do it with the air gushing out. Just have to shove it in there really fast. But you have to do it fast because without the core in the stem, the air comes out really fast. Probably safer to do it with the truck jacked up but I'm lazy like that.

You can get valve stems and cores just about anywhere my tire guys just give 'em to me, and it's a good idea to carry both. Doesn't matter if it's the tpms sensor, cores are pretty much interchangeable.

Thanks all. Going to pickup a few spare valves cores and a tire repair kit this weekend. With those and picking up a kinetic rope my recovery gear will be pretty much assembled.

I tried to use ones similar to those once…I still ended up needing a rescue tow…lol

They are just kind of flimsy in my opinion…

Damn! That looks like it was/could have been bad.

How come you chose to mount your compressor there instead of inside the cabin or engine bay?

I have a smittybilt 30K rated kinetic rope. Never used it (yet) but seems well build and a cheaper option to the bubba or the yankum rope.
