Today's project was to de-badge the Iforce and Tundra plaques. Did the whole bit, hair dryer, 30# fishing line as a saw. All badges came off fine, all left a healthy amount of glue/gunk. Was able to get that off, but on the pax side only - there remains a lot of stuff I can't seem to get off.

    1. Goo be goned it to death
    2. tried clay barring which I think actually made it more difficult now
    3. scraped with fingernails till the cow's came home

    - crap is still there and is driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

Side view, you can see it below the reflection of the red wood chips...

I would try heat again, seems to be glue residue. its nerve racking because you don't want to jack up the paint. I've been there!

You're exactly right. Have the hair dryer sitting there, but am afraid of screwing up the paint.

Will get a consensus and see what the heck to do.

    Appreciate your input

Ok...that's two for heat - seems a consensus is developing.
Just don't want to jack up the paint...

I had to use a combination of 3M Adhesive Remover, warmed it up with a heat gun and a lot of elbow grease with a microfiber towel. Finished it off with Meguiar's Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax and no sign of the glue left.

hair dryers are used on your hair/head so paint should be good, just remember not too much heat in one area for too long. post pic when clean. you will be fine!

All right, there seems to be one direction to go.

Heading out to begrudgingly apply limited doses of heat and see what happens.

    Appreciate the input...

When I got to that point, I rubbed in Goo Gone and used my fingernails. Being careful not to scratch too hard. Little bit of heat helps but too much and it just melts onto there and is even more difficult. I think debadging a two or three year old truck is much more difficult than brand new trucks.

Definitely is. Especially in areas where it gets very hot. It just bakes in.

How long did you let Goo Gone soak into the glue? will it help if you let it soak in for a while?

Any time I've ever used it I just soak the cloth I am using and rub the area. I wouldnt let it sit on the paint for too long. Should work pretty quickly.

I agree with more heat and quickly rub with goo gone on a saturated microfiber

I'll be up there Tuesday if you haven't resolved by then I can help with ideas.

Thanks Bud, it's getting there. I really like the de-badge and those steps I bought from you are both very functional for my ladies as well as pretty tough looking. Kids are saying I should take off the TRD stickers and just go totally clean...

I'm a fan of the stickers, but would look good either way!

By the way...are those raceline defenders?

EDIT: Just saw they were JCT. looks great!

I think the decals pull the red in the tail lights into the scheme. I'm probably going to remove mine and do a blacked out version of the TRD 4X4

Heat her up again and hit it with the goo gone. I had the exact same issue when I debadged mine. Worked like a charm. Grab a drink because it's not a 5 minute process but the outcome is worth it

I use 3m automotive adhesive remover on mine. After I get the emblems off I wipe some on there and use a bug sponge. Works pretty good. Did all my Tundra badges and 4x4 badge in 20 mins the other night.
