Remote start can be added to almost any vehicle, some easier than others. I’d strongly suggest letting the professionals do it. I’m a DIY’er type of guy but I wouldn’t dare chance it. There is plenty of threads on here for people asking for help on DIY installs after they got stuck trying to install it.

I paid $305 out the door for my local installer to put in a Viper 4105v. It came with a lifetime warranty and it has been flawless. I’ll never own a vehicle without remote start again.

It is indeed. But honestly those are things I have shops install just for the warranty.

I did these for several years and if my memory serves me correct only very certain Limited Sequoias had transponders. Tundras didn’t get them until 2nd gen. But then again, that was 9 years ago and I’ve had a few beers since then.

Also, if your installer knows what he is doing, you can have him add the rear window roll down to be linked to the aux/trunk pop. I did it and it has proved to be very useful.

I'm looking into doing the same for my 06 Limited DC. It looks like Compustar is a decent brand, they have pro installers out of NJ. Was looking to have them install it.

Too many horror stories of folks DIY,ing. Sometimes even fatal accidents (not with any tundras I'm aware of).

I've also had good experiences with Compustar in the past. My dad's 97 k1500 has had a Compustar remote start in it for 6 years and we've never had issues with it. Having a shop install it is always the safer route, I'm just a cheap bastard.

I half added remote start to my 05 DC. Lol. It's wonky but starts the truck and lets it warm up. I recommend having a shop install unless you know your way around the wiring. I didn't and so I have a half ass working remote start.
