I debadged my truck the other day, washed it, and then took a decal remover to the sticky bits left by the badges. It worked great, and all the stuff came off, but it left weird marks in the paint. It doesn't look like it scratched anything, but washing the spots doesn't seem to help. Is this something I can fix by waxing the truck? Or is there another way to fix it?

There's also some road dirt on there now, but the obviously smudged parts is what I'm talking about.

get some polish go over that area, then follow up with a coat of wax. May take some elbow grease, it is not going to be a wipe on, wipe off situation.

I didn't polish it, just scrubbed it with a couple different car scrubbers I had around.

So a wash, polish and wax should fix it?

Not sure. But from my own experience, I had ghosting and odd marks until after I did.

WD40 will most likely be your friend (without being abrasive) cleaning up residue.

yep, and probably should watch using car scrubbers, easy to scratch the paint. Wash the truck, then you can get some cleaner/polish and it will clean that up. Follow up with some wax. Use microfiber or something soft.

How long have the badges been on there? Please don't say 2007.

I wish I had known that a few days ago. Residue is gone, just the smudges now.

They were just microfiber ones, said they wouldn't scratch the paint. What do you recommend for polish/wax?

They were on since 2007. Did I screw up? Are they collectible now or something?

The paint will likely be brighter under the badges, where it has been hidden from the sun and other elements for 14years...that's all.

I used the turtle walk label and sticker remover spray from autozone. Worked perfect no residue left.
As far as your truck goes rubbing compound and wax, or have it polished and waxed.

Same thing happened to my 4runner; dirt gets behind the badges and roughed up the paint. Being an 07 that’s a long time to be unexposed to the sub and elements....It will always look like that unfortunately. You can try rubbing compound and polishing wax. It will make it look better but you’ll always see that “box” unfortunately
