Not unusual in the state of MA.

When I was much younger, I worked with a guy who got a bottle broken over the back of his head in a bar. He had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and ended up knocking the teeth out of the guy who hit him with the bottle.

Guess why he was working with me in a Supermarket?

To pay off the dental bills of the guy who broke the bottle over his head! So I’m not surprised in the least.

That is why I would just go for center mass with the lead! No, just kidding! Only put them down if you have no alternative. Too often the consequences are huge... Nobody wants to look over their shoulder forever! As for Martial arts, got a few years under my belt, good stuff folks, but again restraint is highly admirable and in many cases required to keep your status. Just pay the insurance bill and be glad you are better than them. It could always be worse, I mean hey they could have smashed every window! And let's say you confront a neighborhood kid for digging through your glovebox. Then 2 years later the tractor out back has sugar in the tank or there is graffitti on the driveway. You will never be at peace and always say what if this what if that. Not worth the consequences!

In this here state of Texas, we just leave the windows cracked with our pet rattlesnake hanging out on the drivers seat. Not too many people will attempt to steal anything seeing that curled up on the front seat....

I have considered the use of rattlesnakes on multiple occasions to resolve several issues. I mean they are a form of pest control! Porch pirate b- gone!

Just wanted to say I have enjoyed the back and forth, general courteous nature of this discussion. Its a pretty serious topic, and people have pretty serious opinions of it.

I feel like if this was on FB it would have already escalated into name calling and finger pointing.

My Tundra got broken into last year, stopped by to get food after the gym and they took my gym bag with some $100 headphones and my sweaty gym clothes. Sucks but found someone the next day in Houston to fix the window. I don't leave anything in the truck, not even a grocery bag anymore.

We just had the same - people coming through at 3AM checking doors. My dogs went ape-$4it crazy and my cameras alerted. My tundra and jeep were locked, my two neighbors were not so lucky. I hate this crap.

You hit the nail on the head regarding the civli liability. In Texas, yes, we can use deadly force to protect our property; it is not a crime. BUT, then you face the years of the civil court, where only 51% of the jury has to find you guilty. What doesn't help you is things like fancy statements are engraved on your gun etc.

Nothing surprises me about Texas since you can legitimately kill prostitutes for trying to screw you over for paid services.
