Is there any performance difference between bringing dual exhaust pipes out the sides or the rear? I like the look or the pipes coming out the rear, but I see more Tundras with the pipes coming out the sides...

I'd go with what you think looks best. I've had it done on previous trucks and the shop I go to always tries to pressure me to dump it straight down or out the side, it takes them less time. I don't think there's much (if any) of a performance difference. Some say that having it come out on each side behind the tire gives it more of a factory look.

No performance difference. You talking about one additional 30-45 bend vs going out the back. Will be just looks being the difference.

I did read about someone complaining about the noise of the rear exit exhaust when towing a trailer.

Thanks for the input! There's been lots here posted regarding dual exhaust preferences, and I tried to load the page with all of the you tube clips, but it keeps crashing my computer (too many clips, I guess). I'm looking for advice on a dual exhaust system for my 2014. I'm looking at a budget (unfortunately) but I need to improve the sound! I miss my old 2001 Tundra with the TRD dual exhaust. Any suggestions on a dual exhaust system that has a nice low rumble at idle but kicks in when you step on it? Not a crazy "wake up your neighborhood" loud noise - don't want that at all - but something that lets you know you're driving a V8 with some power. I'm considering a Flowmaster 40 or 50 series - but I've also been reading good things about the MBRP, Magnaflow and BAM as well. Any advice or input? Thanks!

I just installed the mbrp s5312al dual exhaust rear exit. Amazon has it on sale for like 600 which is cheaper than mbrp site. Installed fairly easy tough to line up but I think I got her as straight and lined up as she'll go. Not loud unless hammered down so far. I love the symmetrical look of the rear exit too. Overall pretty nice so far. ill upload pics in a few

My 2000 Tundra had them straight out the back. Had to "re-size" the pipes a few times as they tended to get crushed by harsher terrain...or downed trees

More of an audible difference would be my best guess -- at least to people directly to your left and right, too, haha.

Actually nice. It does not give it a huge loud tone. It's still subtle until you give her some heavy throttle. Working on install and mbrp is working with me nicely as of right now
