Too bad you don't have any board stuff (other than long boards). That's cool of you to offer though!

Yeah, I was surprised to find out how many people live near amazing slopes but don't ski or snowboard. I guess that's like me living on the coast and not owning a boat. I do enjoy boating and fishing, but I find it much more cost-effective to go with friends!

Grew up in Houston, and never went until I moved to Utah for work. Been snowboarding ever since. I like Snowbird, hate driving the Cottonwood Canyons. I really like PCMR (PC + Canyons resort), but live a bit closer to Snowbasin, which has some nice runs. Worth checking out, but not yet this year. All fake snow thus far. We have had very few storms and have abysmal snowpack.

Yeah, we're a freestyle skiing oriented shop but we carry gear for any type of skier. We're ski only since there's a million snowboard only shops out there.

Be driving the tundra out and logging the miles, somewhere around the 8th. I always forget Steamboat is up there!

Make it back maybe once a year. It's hard to leave the mountains in the summer and winter and go back to the hot and humid.

Breck is pretty nice. Get up above the tree line. On a side note. Nicest emergency room I’ve ever been to in that valley. About 20 minute drive from breck.

Yup, I don't miss that part of it. For your ski plans, I've hit some places since being around here and I would suggest Snowbasin and Powder Mountain in Utah and Targhee and Brundage in Idaho. If you're considering Jackson Hole, go to Targhee and maybe hit Jackson for a day or two.
I prefer good snow, good terrain, and not many people. Some will disagree, but I hate lift lines, when a run is full of people that cut you off, and the whole mountain has been stripped in an hour on a powder day.

Thanks for the info on Targhee. Is it part of the Ikon Pass? If not I may have to strategize my lift ticket purchases for the year I come up there.

I got into it with some a hole on South Platte river fly fishing one day. He kept saying he was from “Breck” like it was something magical. Now I can’t stand to hear people call Breckinridge “Breck” because it reminds me of that douche hole.:rofl:

Yup, ice coast here. Worked at a ski resort for 10 years, from instructor, to coach of instructing, to marketing.

Brought snowboard programs to local public schools too.

Also built their bike park as I grew up a "low class" Pro downhill racer. :)

No stopping in site, it is my life. Reason I bought a Tundra in the first place.... build out for bike trips.

Timberline today...I only got a picture with one of my daughters (the other one was off with her friends immediately, but this one is still just getting the toe side figured out so I hung with her most of the day).
    upload_2021-1-24_18-38-20.jpg

We got to the parking lot about 6:45 this morning because the way they are doing their COVID capacity is that when the lot is full, the road from Highway 26 gets closed. So on weekends, it’s an early day to get up there to beat that road closure (we left the house at 4:45).
    upload_2021-1-24_18-39-38.jpg

It did afford me the chance to catch a sliver of sunrise before the snow started to fall.
    upload_2021-1-24_18-40-40.jpg

The rest of the day was about 22 and snowing. Visibility was still good, and the snow was coming down just right to keep the icy spots and tracks covered. Actually a pretty good day...had a few bomber runs from the top of Stormin’ Norman to the bottom of Jeff Flood at haulin’ ass speeds (quads were on fire at the bottom both times). They were talking about opening up the Magic Mile, but never got the chairs on it, but we still found some good stuff. Hit a few kickers, though I don’t do any tricks (I’ve always been a trees and steeps guy, and I’m also old and out of shape now). Found a little bit of good stuff in the trees. And generally just got to ride with my “kids” (17 and 19) today.

Just reading your description makes me smile! It just doesn't get much better than that!

I wish my kids could come with us in a couple of weeks, but they get no break at all this semester due to COVID schedule changes.

I keep telling them they need to get good enough and I’ll start taking them to other places. Would love to get them up to Whistler, Baker, and out into the Rockies. Start hitting all the bucket list mountains from my youth that I never got to see.

I think we’re going to start planning a weekly Thursday night trip to SkiBowl for as long as their season holds out, and continue doing random day trips up to Timberline too.

Now you're just flaunting it! I'm just happy to be able to go twice this year instead of the usual one annual trip!

And now there's new terrain!!! Some good chutes and bowls that used to be out are now in-bounds.

It’s been so long, I hardly remember it. The thing I do remember is that when I was there, half the mountain was off-limits to snowboards. But my best friend’s aunt worked there sort of high-up in their operations, and she got me a special pass that let me go anywhere on the mountain including the “off limits” lifts. He, and his dad that took us down there to check it out (it was before either of us could drive) were skiers, so she reasoned it was so we could stick together and check the whole place out for the two days we were there.

I’ve never been able to feel the stares through the back of my head like I could waiting in line at those lifts!

Oooohhh! I bet the burn marks are still on the back of your head! Just so long as you didn't slide down the slopes sideways, creating a 4' wide sheet of ice!

Nope - back then I was still riding my Mistral swallowtail but had already gotten to be a bomber rider. There was a time I considered getting a race board with the hard boots and the super skinny waist (Nitro Scorpion was high on my list), but I have Size 12 shoes and those slalom boards just don’t work for big feet. Shortly after that I moved from the 159 Mistral to a 165 Nitro Diablo, and two seasons later to my K2 Eldorado 169 that I still bomb on today.
