    Hey Folks !

Going to Big Bear tomorrow until the 25th. Not 100% sure I’ll need the chains but I prefer to have them and not need them.
The snowchains I almost bought at pep boys will not fit my Tunny.
    33x12.5xR-18’s

Been calling around and seems like everywhere is sold out.

Can anyone in SoCal help me out?
I’d be willing to drive anywhere within 50 miles of 92869 to pick up/borrow/rent.

    Thanks.
    Tom

You just reminded me to order my chains. Maybe you should repost this in the California region.

I ended up buying some chains direct from an importer in City of Industry. He resells to all the tire shops and off road places.
Been up in Big Bear since Tuesday and so far haven’t needed them. Today has seen the heaviest snow fall and 4HI is doing just fine.
Chains cost me $100 to cover all 4 wheels.
Most importantly they fit 12.5” wide up to 36” tal

Any more infor on the place you bought them from? Thinking of heading to big bear on the 1st. I have 4x4 in the tundra but rather have the chains and not need them, rather than need them and not have them.
Im running a 305/55/20R so finding chains resonably priced is hard

I would suggest cables... my chains broke midway through the Sierras and it redecorated my rear wheel wells...

Here with the chains on. So far not too bad. They go on really quick and are easy to take off. I really can’t complain for $50 for a bag of eight

I’d recommend cables and in reality although you should carry them just in case, by the time the CHP requires chains on 4x4 vehicles, you don’t want to be on the road.

    Herewith the offer up link.

$35 for the plastic & metal studded.
$50 for a bag of 8 “tri chain” as seen above.

They import all kinds of random stuff, quite the Aladdin’s cave if you like tools n what not.
I just got back from playing in the snow with the chains on the rear wheels and had plenty of traction in 2wd, 6” deep fresh snow.
They also helped on the compacted, slick snow.

Do you know if they work when "Carrying chains is mandatory"?

With it being the racheting style, any damage to the rim or any shifting/moving while driving?

This. Got stuck once leaving Tahoe and we were just on the road for 8 hrs not moving. Snow was so bad they had to shut down the road. I told myself never again, if chains are required for any vehicle no way I'm even gonna try.

I bought it in LA an area where snow is non existing.... shit off road is non existing unless you go through someone's yard.. lol.. the struggles of a concrete jungle... now I used my chains 6 times crossing the Sierras before they both gave in and became nunchucks... cables lasted 3, but they just went MIA......
