Heading to Tahoe and was wondering if there are any trails open worth heading out on. I have seen a few posts but cant remember where I saw them. Any help from you Northern CA residents from that area would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Most of the trails up in Tahoe will be snowed out in February. You better take @Rica25 with you with all his new recovery gear.

I'm planning to wheel next weekend. The Barney Riley trail from the 395 side should be open. This is an easy trail during the summer with a couple water crossings. Throwing in snow and ice takes it to another level. The trail does not go up high into the mountains so you don't have to worry about slipping and sliding off the trail to a snowball death. Go only halfway until you reach the hot spring and jump in. Do not cross the river at the hotspring, even if the water level is low, because the other half of the trail will have some steep hills that you will need to climb out of and if it's covered in ice then you may get stuck.

Do the trail in reverse. The highway 89 side is closed.

Funny you should say that...we are attempting to meet up after randomly finding out we were going to be up there at the same time.
