    Hello,

After enough struggles with blocks of wood and sub-par jacks, I bought a pro-eagle jack.

I've read nothing but great things about them, and needed something to lift my 2.5 in lifted tundra for servicing. When unpacked approximately a week ago, I had a couple of things worth observing:

    1) upon assembly, the wheel bearings were not fully seated. They are interference fit inside a solid polymer wheel. I had to seat the bearing further myself to install the wheel.

    2) The clamp assembly that supports the jack extension has rivets that aren't fully seated.

    3) The jack extension doesn't fit inside of the clamp. There is interference with the valve driveshaft.

I e-mailed them, and called. Got an answer that acknowledged the rivets were not fully installed, and there was a run of those clamp assemblies that had similar issues in their shop. Additionally, the installation of the jack extension is solved by making use of the clearance in the assembly bolt. Specifically, loosening the single bolt, and lifting up the extension bracket to make use of the "slop' in the bolt hole provide clearance.

I expressed concern over both issues. Two items were due to poor craftsmanship, and the other is bad design. Only upon a number of questions of trying to get these problems fixed, did I directly ask for a replacement to have properly assembled parts. They responded by saying to call back in a month, and they could ship me a replacement clamp assembly when they have a new batch..

When paying 400 USD for a jack, am I being unreasonable with my expectations? I've only heard good things about this equipment and company, but so far am disappointed.

I've attached photos to show the rivets.

Nope. We get what we pay for when we order cheap Chinese knock-offs; you should get what you paid for when you ordered this top-reputation critical safety gear.

Thanks for letting the rest of us know to be wary. Please update us on how this gets handled.

I have the 2 ton off road model and do not have these issues. I don't think your being unreasonable but since the extension clamp is a separate piece, they should easily be able to replace the clamp.

Wow. For the price, it sure seems like poor quality. In your picture, they didn't even clean up the weld splatter before painting. Disappointing.

We’ve had one for a few years with no issues. I wonder if somethings changed since we got ours. Just the way things seem to go... Companies finding cheaper ways to get products out while sacrificing quality.

I have the 2 ton jack for a few years. I believe they call it now the OG 2 ton. Only 2 models to choose from back then. My pump is starting to go out and needs replacing. Called them the other day and said not until March for the pump part. Holds weight fine, but releasing it only goes down a couple inches. I need to push down manually with my hands to completely collapse.

Nice jack though and purchase again.

Sorry to hear about your jack. I have the 3 ton and it's been great. No complaints. 20201230_170920.jpg

Will do. I'll admit, they didn't exactly seem too concerned about this issue, even when I had sent the photos. I'm also a little put off by the fact that I'm the one who has to return a call in about a month to get a suitable replacement.

    We'll se how this goes....

can't return this? Personally I'm not waiting a month for a product I bought ready to use, to be fixed. They can have it back as far as I'm concerned.

Those are light-duty "pop" rivets intended only to hold the strap clamps in position. They can't be fully seated since they are too long for the application. The length of the rivet has to be sized for the thickness of the material being clamped. When the center mandrel pulls out, it should be because the outside end of the rivet is perfectly seated against the back of the material. Wrong rivets were ordered or shipped.

Covid-19 supply problems? Not a good excuse for poor quality. The rivets appear amateurish and are ugly, but they are superficial to jack function. That's why customer service seems unconcerned about the issue. If they "forget" to send the replacement clamp, you can always buy a pop rivet setting tool with shorter rivets and replace them yourself...if they bother you.

I spoke to them over the phone, and they sent a replacement clamp in the mail which arrived about two weeks ago. When I received the clamp, it was of a slightly different design, and had the exact same issue with the rivet.

At this point I think I am a little tired of going back and forth on this. As long as the test fit is functional, I'm probably going to leave this as is (as much as that pains me!).

Anyone else get a newer jack with better luck?
