It should sit behind the bumper face just fine. I will try today if I can get the time. The lens fits in the hole fine.

OK got a couple mins. Here is how they sit on the brackets. Not ideal, but probably ok.

Mount will need to be modified to sit further towards the front of the light to hit the hole in the mount on the bumper.

I can get you an H11 to Deutsche adapter similar to what you linked for $14 shipped. It'll be a much better build quality as well. Just an option!

The way that sits is due to the height of the universal bracket, right?

What kind of plate is that light sitting on. Is it just a tab that sticks straight out, or are the supports for it?

Hmm... I just had the bright idea for a second that the bracket could maybe be slid around to go underneath the tab, but that's far wider than the universal bracket.

I have some aluminum stock that I will attempt to make brackets this weekend. I will likely grind the front cover of DD lights to fit. I had to resend the brackets to fit the DD lightbar already.

Its the tab that comes on the C4 bumper.

The light WILL physically fit in the hole, but then you have no adjustment.

Original plan, bracket that would go UNDER the C4 tab, bolt to the light bracket and tab. No dice. Holes are too close together, hits tab on bumper.

Plan B, weld that bitch together. Just use front hole. (its TIGHT, but still has adjustment on light)

In the powder coat oven now....

@diodedynamics if your on here, are the brackets stainless?

And adapter harnesses made, get a weatherpack crimper if you don't have one, WAY better than needle nose etc. Even if they are the cheap ones.

Its skinner than the DD bracket, and yes underneath mounting makes it fit the hole almost perfect.

    LOVE IT.

I'm not DD, but to answer your question I am almost positive that the universal brackets are aluminum.

Here’s what I had on the mind... but the welding thing creates a problem lol. I’m winding if they changed from aluminum to steel when they started offering the black brackets.

OK here we are SS3's in the C4 bumper. They fit the holes fine IMO
    [IMG]

    Brackets from the back.

And the money shot! DD right BD left (yes they are on, you can kinda see the yellow around the tire print)

DD is aimed a little lower, and has much tighter pattern.

Looks great, so you just welded a plate underneath the DD bracket and put a new hole inside of the new bracket to make this work?

Exactly, piece of 1/8x2 welded to the bottom of the DD bracket, 3/8c hole with the edge 1/8" back from the front of the DD bracket. Bolt in UNDER the tab on the bumper.

Couldn't you just add a 1/8 spacer without welding it to the DD bracket since it will be bolted together anyways?

It's not a spacer, it's reinforcement. The DD bracket is on top of it.

I was teying to just bolt them together originally, but the bolts hit the tab on the bumper. And I have a welder....

FWIW the brackets for the BD were already bent a bit

Gotcha. I'm going to have to do this soon but find a way without welding the brackets together. I don't have a welder.

If you move it further back inside the bumper you could bolt it, another 1/4" ish

What's the reason behind the 2 holes on the DIY bracket? In your opinion @java230, do you think something like this would work for us that don't have welders:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Superst...-10/202221757?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US

Also, could you show another picture of how you built that adapter? And/or show what parts you used? Thanks for being the guinea pig for us on this project!

The idea was the front hole would bolt to the bumper tab, and sandwich the bracket since the hole is so close to the edge. Not strong enough IMO. But back hole would go thru the slot in the DD bracket to support the back edge.

A bracket like you sent may work, would set the light further back.

I used a piece of scrap stock 1/8x2 mild steel. Just over 5/16 hole for the DD slot/fastener, just over 3/8 for the front one. (I reused the BD hardware, but it's just a stainless 3/8 bolt and nylock). It you do it this way, the holes need to be spaced apart more than I did. The back hole needs to further back as the bolt hit the tab on the bumper. This would set the whole light further back. Front hole would not go thru DD bracket. (or would just hit the front edge a little)

How far do you recommend putting the 2 holes away from each other?

So the second hole is not needed? Unless of course you don't weld the two brackets together.

Also, couldn't you just flip the bracket 180° and have the light facing the direction of the red arrow in the photo. (without the welded bracket attached)
