What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Saw the pics. Looks real good....congrats! Did you tint or do anything with your 3rd brake light to match the tails?

Thanks! That is my last modification left to do. I haven't decided how....I found a guy locally who will tint the 3rd light, but I am not sure I want to go that route for the costs. I have been searching for an aftermarket unit....but I have to be careful since it is hard to find something for a 2021. I will post my results here.

 

There's no dimensional difference between our 2021 and anything from 2014 and newer for the taillight or the TBL. On the TBL, it might even go back to 2007...that portion of the cab had no real changes for Gen "3." Should be good to go with anything out there so long as it is a decent quality unit.

 

I figured, but my biggest concern is a water leak. It would totally suck if it happened at that point of the truck. Also, I haven't found a TBL light pattern I like yet. And, the search continues...... Thanks

 

Doubt it’s your LAST mod to do haha... what city you at in Texas? Also, what was the guy going to charge you just to tint the lense? Surely it was cheap....right?

 

In my 2008, I did a custom install of a 2010 OEM stereo and routed the XM/GPS antenna out through the TBL to mount basically where our shark fin is on the 2021. I had trouble with it sealing at first, so I simply made a new/upgraded gasket with RTV and it sealed up perfectly.

The blues always look awesome! Which coating did you apply and did you get someone to do it or DIY?

 

Gonna do this in the Spring. Debadge, paint correction, then ceramic. Can't wait.

 

What did you end up paying ? What is the deal with the bent corner on all of these ?

 

Several have arrived like that. We've just used pliers to bend it back straight before installing. Mine even hid the crack in the paint when I straightened it up. I paid $58 for mine on an Amazon deal.

 

Wonder if those are seconds/defects and shipped like that for those prices?

For a $200+/- savings I'd buy one as long as it is fully functional.

 

This was a DIY job. I did everything over two days by hand, but I rinsed, washed, rinsed, dried, applied the ceramic coat / wax hybrid, then washed all windows inside and out with window cleaner and slapped some Rain-X on the outside of all windows and mirrors.

The product I used is Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax. The bottle makes it look sexy. It comes out as a white paste and smells fruity when applying. I didn’t even use half the bottle and I coated the entire paint surface. You can certainly be liberal with it. I used applicator pads to apply and a fresh clean bag of microfiber towels for buffing the haze off after the coating sat for 5-10 minutes.

To top it all off, I did this whole job while working from home ‘sitting in’ on one of those work meetings (Apple AirPods in my ears) where you just listen to other people talk.

 

Mine was ~$65...but I didn't get the bent corner. I've never had the high dollar one, but for what it's purpose is (keeping honest people honest) I'm more than happy with it. It also nicely divides the big black hole into two smaller black holes.

 

I have the Toyota one, looks exactly the same except for the lock cylinder.

 

Oh gotcha. I thought you meant a legit coating. Looks good though! I've used the Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax spray in the blue bottle. The first application is the key when doing it by wiping it in. After that the refresh of spray on and rinse off is easy. Super cost efficient too. I think one bottle lasted me about 10 or so uses

 

Elaborate on what you mean by ‘legit’. I looked around for a pure ceramic product and couldn’t find it in two stores, and was on a time crunch with the good weather yesterday. This had good reviews, so I grabbed it.

 

You pretty much have to order a ceramic coating. Prep the paint for it. I dont know of any stores selling any. They're expensive, and will most likely be stolen at big box stores and/or put on without knowing what it is and try to sue or return.

 

There are products like ceramic pro, cquartz, avalon king Armour shield(I just applied to the wifes van recently), etc. They come in small 30ml bottles and have to use applicators to apply, high quality microfiber cloths to remove. It has to cure for a day or 2 depending on which you get. Google ceramic coating and you'll see what I mean. They started as only applied by professionals, but have branched out to the weekend warriors now

Either way, the product I used was satisfactory. It’s cost effective and she’s now clean, shiny, and slick!

 

How’s the picture? Curious what your range is with the Yotaled mount in that position. My camera is in a recess below the emblem with the shaft vertical; picture is good but cuts off about a foot in front of the truck.

Not talking politics, just stating obvious reality. I'm not a big Trump fanboy either, but after 1 day of Biden I'm guessing I might want to start holding onto funds when these gas prices start going through the roof driving a Tundra. That or maybe I just got the excuse I needed to go back to buying/riding a motorcycle again.

 

Got the alignment done. Nothing to ground breaking. Drives a little better. Let's see what yall think.

Yes. It is a running joke. Everybody that orders this safe has the corner bent on arrival. It’s weird.

 

Some have gotten it below 100$. I have been watching it daily on Amazon. It sits normally at 170$ but 4 days ago it dropped to 120$. I decided to grab it then.
