Yeah, parrolets are a trip. I couldn't stop laughing when you were describing yours. Their ability to speak and form phrases is amazing. Certainly much more than just mimics. Highly intelligent IMO.

Shouldn't even be a question. If you have the means to help an animal in need, DO IT.

We have four cats, two dogs, and eleven horses, and we aren't even close to done.

 

The key is "We". I am running solo, have a house to take care of on my own, including an acre of grass/gardens, and I work 48 hours a week. I am also thinking to the future, as cats live a long time, and feel my lifestyle will change and I will not have the time I would now to care for her properly. Not everyone can rescue every animal they see, as it isn't always the right thing to do.

Adopting an animal is a huge responsibility and not something that should be taken lightly! I get where your heart is, but not everyone has the time to care for lots of animals. Thank you for rescuing all of yours though!

Cats are zero responsibility. Throw a hopper of food on the ground and a bowl of water. Mostly they don't even care if you're there.
