Got a set of NFabs tubular steps I'm thinking about "Line-Xing".

I've also got an aluminum UWS tool box I'd like to Line-X as well.

    - Thoughts?

    - First hand experiences?

    - One or the other?

    - Neither?

    Thanks for your time

Definitely a good idea on the N-Fabs. Their welds tend to rust so that will keep them protected and also help to keep them free of stone chips. I've seen some toolboxes done and they look good and things don't seem to make as much noise inside the box. One thing to keep is that the gas props on most boxes aren't rated for more than 12 lbs or so, so they may not support the additional weight of the liner material.

I had pelfreybilt sliders on my Tacoma that were line-Xd. They didn't hold up very well. I was touching them up constantly. shortly after that I noticed they took it down as a option to have done when ordering. I'm guessing that a lot of people had the same problem. I have asked a few other people about there sliders they have line-xd to report back about how they hold up and haven't seen feedback from them.

I like powder coating... But I've seen a lot of fellas go the bed liner route. Honestly. They hold up about the same. One is textured one isn't. My first pair of sliders was powdered. The second was rhino lined. Didnt make a huge difference aside from the grippyness on the rhino liner.

Hadn't considered extra weight on tool box lid.

May just have them re-powder coated with the textured powder coat.

    Since on the topic, kinda...
Anybody black powder coat an aluminum diamond tool box?

Yes. I did it on my work truck. Looks awesome. Actually did the whole box black.

Thanks man. Leaning linex on toolbox, PC steps. Pic if it's convenient.

The only downside to linex is it starts to get sun fading after a while. But if you're throwing stuff on top of it all the time you will love that you lined it. Haha I'll try and remember to snap a pic when I go back Monday.

I have N-Fab tubes as well and the powder coat on the add on steps was poor. I line-x'd them and they are nice. I paid up for the solar coating.

I also have a diamondback cover which is made of diamond plate aluminum and had them line-x that as well. It has held up nicely for the 1 year I have owned it.

I recommend going ahead with your plan.

I put a set of Go Rhino Dominator D2 bars on my dad's '15 Tundra DC in September of '15, just looked at them today and the powdercoat is almost totally gone from the leading edge of all 4 hoops. Wouldn't be that way had I sprayed liner on them prior to installing them....looks like I have another project. Also, if you find that the props won't support the toolbox lid after it's sprayed, any shop that sells truck caps should be able to get you 15 or 17# props. Just make sure to get the right length. If you measure them take a measurement fully extended from end to end and a measurement fully extended from center of socket to center of socket.

This is what I did with an old tool box. If interested in how I did it I'll be happy to go into greater detail
