I ordered Rhino Shackles, Rhino recovery strap, and the rhino shackle receiver.

@ColoradoTJ can probably give a better explanation.....but here's my understanding
If you want to pull something, a strap is fine.
If you need to get something un-stuck, then a kinetic rope would be best.

Yah, a strap can snap under the pressures of trying to get someone un-stuck, which has in the past maimed, injured, and decapitated people. Kinetic ropes are made to absorb, and release the energy in a useful way so they don't snap.

What they said^^ Also straps are a million times more compact to store in your truck.

A strap is like a “wack” a sudden burst or hit of force because it doesn’t really stretch.
A kinetic rope is more like a long push of force. It spreads the same amount of force out in a more progressive manner. This gives you the ability to have harder yanks and in the end, exert more force.
It also just makes life more enjoyable and puts less stress on both vehicles by smoothing out the yank.

I have towed/pulled out upwards of 50 vehicles in the last few years with both standard straps and kinetic ropes. Kinetic ropes definitely work better and allow for better yanks. But at the end of the day, if this is just an “incase of emergency” item, then save the money and get a strap.

But no matter what you do, PLEASE make sure you use a good recovery point such as a hitch pin or the hooks under the bumper. Do not ever hook to the chain hooks (is that what they’re called?) next to the hitch or a ball hitch.

So I read recovery strap is better than a tow strap because it is more stretchy.

if you haven't, you should watch some youtube videos (check out matts offroad recovery) to see kinetic ropes in action.

Nice. A 30’ 7/8” rope is still less than half the price of Matt’s.

If I am not mistaken, ARB snatch straps have some stretch to assist in the recovery and can be had at a sun $100 price point if I remember correctly. I have used mine for pulling multiple vehicles out of sand and mud.

So the biggest difference between the kinetic and the recovery is how many uses you can get out of it.

Depends on what you mean by "how many uses you can get out of it". If you mean diversity of applications, then yes. If you mean amount of times you can use it, then no.

This will be just fine. No need to worry about “stretch” since you shouldn’t give this tow strap shock loads.

I bought a 30' 7/8" Bubba Rope to ride around in the truck with me.

I doubt I will ever need it but if I don't have it I will most certainly need it...

I use the ARB 18k snatch strap. You generally want the break strengthen to be about 3x the weight of the vehicle you’re recovering so you’ll get some stretch. I also use a cheap 30k tow strap to tow broke trucks for long distances. You do not want to use your nice expensive snatch straps to tow. Dirt will get in the fibers and there’s also a high chance the truck can either run it over or wrap it around a wheel.

Personally, I like the ARB’s because they store nicely and they’re cheap. You’re likely to damage your line, usually by running it over, long before the line itself fails. So I’d rather replace an $80 line rather than a fancy $300 one before I even get the full life out of them.

3/4 inch steel shackle vs soft shackle? Any feedback on this?

I'm in process of putting together a recovery kit for my truck also, I can see advantages to the soft shackle but doesn't seem possible to be as durable as steel.
