Hi guys I'm new to the forum and Tundra world, '17 TRD. Have been browsing about this issue, so I figure I'd post.

    Here's the story:
I purchased the 2017 Tundra with a 6" lift installed by the dealer a few weeks ago and noticed ODO hadn't gone up since I drove it off the lot. Trip works fine, speedo works fine, just ODO display won't tick.

Called the dealer next day (pretty reputable dealer) and they told me to take it to the BIG Toyota service shop they work with in the area, they'd cover the cost. Toyota diagnosed it twice and decided it needed a new cluster and I would have to leave it there for a week or however long it takes to get a new cluster for legal reasons.

    Questions:
Anybody experienced this before, and if so, did you have to leave it there?
Would the lift install have something to do with this?
Do you think a new cluster is really going to fix it?

    TL;DR
Speedo, Trip, and all other Gauges work, just not digital ODO display, have to leave my truck at service shop until they get new one installed

It makes sense, I've just read elsewhere that it's usually not as long of a wait to get it done, don't know the process for toyota though

Did they make you leave it there so you're not getting more mileage out of your warranty than you're supposed to? I suspect the week long wait might just be the current delay to get the parts.

Yeah, what they told me was Toyota legally can't allow the truck to be out putting more miles on it

I wasn't clear from reading your post if you ever saw the odometer working. Or that there is proof that it stopped because of the lift work. Did you never see it work? (By the way, I don't understand how lifting the truck could have caused the ODO to stop turning - I wonder if it is a tamper protection thing?)

If you never saw the ODO work, you would have no idea how long it has been out of commission or how many uncounted miles were racked up before you purchased it. I presume you received a mileage statement from the dealer with the purchase, which could be used to exit this transaction because I don't believe the dealer could attest to mileage under those circumstances.
