New to the forum but have been scouring it for a few weeks and love all the content on so many topics! Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this site before. I’m currently driving an ‘07 Tundra DC 4x2 that I bought new. This is my 7th or 8th Toyota - ‘78 Celica GT, ‘84 Supra (still my favorite car), ‘92 4x4 extended cab w/ factory lift that I wish I had never sold, and numerous Camry’s that my wife has had over the years but now drives a ‘13 RAV4 we bought new. When I bought the Tundra, I really, desperately wanted a 4WD, but just couldn’t do it financially. For the last 8+ years I’ve scoured the internet and read everything I could find on a) “the diesel is coming” rumors and b) what is the next gen Tundra going to look like and what is loaded with. I’m now ready to drop the cash for either a new one in ‘22 assuming it’s properly equipped or I’ll buy a very late model and start the upgrading like so many of you have.

I really appreciate how so many of you have taken the time to describe what you’ve done to your rides, how you did it, lessons learned, links to important info, etc. and included really good photos. The only thing I’ve done to my Tundra was the stereo head replacement and front speakers. Had it been 4WD, I would have done so much more. I’ve only got 142k on it and the dealer offered me $10k for it when I was in buying oil filters. $10k!!! I guess that would have made a nice down payment on a new one @ $60k! When I buy new, I won’t be trading it in (or should I say, giving it away.) Not really sure what it’s worth, but I know it’s more than that!

Sorry for being long winded here. Love the site and look forward to reading and seeing more.

Welcome from NC! If you cherish a V8 engine I would recommend purchasing now just in case the rumors are true...

Thank you. So from what I’ve read here, it sounds like Toyota did away with the transmission cooler around 2019. Surprised to hear that and if true, I’ll have to revisit my backup plan if the 2022 MY doesn’t meet expectations.

That is a true statement unfortunately about the trans cooler.

Welcome from the wet side of WA.
With close to 300k on my 2008, when I started to look for something new my decision to stick with the same engine and drive train was pretty easy. And trade-in value on these trucks right now is absolutely mind-blowing.
