I recently purchased a 2000 Tundra. I drove it from Southern Utah to Northern California and had no problems during the trip. Everything worked flawlessly the entire trip.Since I got it here in mid December I have been driving it as my primary vehicle. Honestly not all that much driving because, well, California lock down.

Last week I had to drive about an hour on the highway and I noticed that my cruise control would randomly shut off. As I was trying to figure out what is occurring I noticed that my turn signals were acting erratically, fast flicker and then not operate at all. I noted that both of these things happen at the same time. If I put my turn signal on while driving the cruise would shut off.

What is strangest is when the truck is at idle, like at a stop or when I an coasting down a hill, the turn signals and cruise control work fine. When I put it under load then things get erratic. Sometimes the ABS light kicks on as well and an occasionally the check engine light will flicker.

My first thought was a bad ground but this all only happens when the engine is revving.

I am wondering if this might be a bad battery or alternator but I don't want to replace them and find out there is no difference. I can't find any place where there is an electrical issue.

Would a bad battery cause these types of problems?

Swing by your local Vatozone and have them check your battery and alternator.

It's had a full run down already. All the engine work was done for the 250K service including timing belt, compression.. all of it. The mechanicals are top notch.

Alternator makes weird stuff happen when brushes go bad. Seems our trucks Alternators fail around 220k plus/minus miles.

Could be a bad battery but usually it doesn’t make weird stuff happen.

Alternator could have shit the bed after it was checked. I second autozone test of battery and alternator.

Replaced alternator. Everything is working fine now.

I had the battery checked and the new alternator voltage regulator fails. I am going to warranty the new alternator since it's possible I got a lemon. Is it possible there is something on the truck that is killing the alternator?

Is there anything in the electrical system that y'all can think of that might burn out a voltage regulator?

What brand Alternator are we warranting with this failed voltage regulator?
