If you could see your cameras while the truck is running from the app, now that would be something. Too much tech for Toyota though.

    Quick Update.....

Just got a text from my service writer. She said that the tech that's been working on the issue received an email from techline.

"Our teams have isolated the issue keeping the key fobs from working on these vehicles. They are going to deploy a code to fix this issue on 1/20 barring no further setbacks/testing. They have to correct these vehicles in batches of 5000 at a time and this vehicle (I'm assuming mine) should be in the first batch. Hopefully these will be done on 1/20-1/22. Fingers crossed this takes care of the issue."

Hopefully some good news. Will keep you posted.

So they’ll be dicking around with the computer on my truck on the day we’re expecting increased civil unrest.

    Great.

We had our civil unrest back in the 60's down here. Hopefully it's all behind us! However, I AM staying alert!

Good news! I've still not had a chance to take it to the dealer and maybe at this point, I won't have to.

I have key fob remote start again. Whatever the code was to fix the issue worked. I tried to remote start it 3 or 4 times yesterday and today and nothing. Just went out to grab something and tried it again. Fired right up.

Hopefully when my "courtesy extension" of the remote start ends on 15 February mine will keep working. I'd hate to have to call them yet again :).

I think what irritated me the most during this whole thing was the lack of communication from Toyota. I emailed them back on December 21st. No answer. I called them December 28th. Spent an hour and a half on the phone and was told that someone would be calling me back within 24 hours. Nothing. Emailed them again January 7th. Received a reply saying that they would be calling me by the close of business on the 11th.......nothing. I know when I had a problem back in 2013 with my last Tundra and emailed them, they were all over it. Not sure what has changed with customer service but its certainly not the same. If I wanted to be ignored, I would just hang around the wife. But I'm thankful to have my remote start again.

I commented on the other similar thread to this, but I've had all the same issues you have had and have a date with the service tech next Friday for a software update. My dealer had not heard of this yet and was quite interested, which I told him was good because he could expect many more calls soon, especially with the cold weather. The only different situation with mine is that the remote start would work as long as I had recently logged into my remote connect app. Even though I had the box checked for "keep me logged in", the app would not keep me logged in. So, when not logged in, the remote start would not work with the FOB. So, I would log into the app and, boom, the key FOB would start the truck. Obviously this is stupid because if you've went to the trouble to log into the app, you might as well use it to remote start the truck. However, it pointed out to the dealer tech that this is some sort of ECU / FOB communication issue with Toyota Corp. Corp. and the local dealer have been pretty good to deal with, but Corp. seemed less interested in figuring out the problem and more concerned with placating me. The dealer tech was much more interested in fixing the problem I think because, one; I paid for a 1794, and two; he knew he was going to be getting flooded with this issue.

I mentioned that early this year somewhere on this forum. Now the subscription has expired (and I'm still not thrilled about paying to renew) the fob is still not working.

So you folks who's fob is working again, did it just start working or did you lodge a complaint to get it working?

I called Toyota corporate and complained. They told me to go see my dealer which I did not do. Fob began working a few days ago for me.

    I wouldn't pay to renew the subscription. I didn't.

As far as having to go to the dealership, I'm not sure about that. Maybe a call to corporate to register the problem is all you need to do.

So it seams you have to get noisy to return service. Wish they were proactive.

UPDATE.... it looks it has been fixed. Tried it every day last week, yesterday and finally, it worked a few minutes ago. Already tried it twice and working as expected.:yes::yes:

I Will let the dealer know and keep an eye on it to make sure it keeps working consistently..!!!

My Key Fob started working again this morning. So it looks like they're rolling out in waves. I did call Toyota and open a ticket, not sure if that accelerated things for me.

Try logging back into the app. - worked for me

Before I did the following I was logged out of the Toyota app w/ an expired subscription. My remote start from the fob has not been working since the day the subscription expired.

For the heck of it I decided to log back into the app. I logged in and was immediately prompted to renew my subscription(which I did not do). I tried the remote start from the fob and it instantly started to work again.

Had to cancel my appointment with the dealership due to COVID, but mine is now working as well. Hopefully they have this resolved.

Damn, are you saying I just renewed remote connect for $80 for no reason?

So I have a 2020 audio plus with the SR5 and TRD OR packages. They both said 1 year Toyota connect trial. I just renewed for $80.
If I cancelled and got my money back are you saying I should have 2 more years with the keyfob working for free?
