Got my 2018 SR5 TSS on Tuesday. Black truck with the murdered out wheels, running boards, etc. I like the look but these K02's ride rougher than I thought they would. Trying to figure out what comes next. Wild Peaks?

 

the TSS is why you don’t see many TRD4x4 models in Texas (as opposed to the TRD Pro).

Tundras leave the factory and go to GST to be outfitted per trim package. GST was set up as an exclusive importer for Toyota (within its region) back in the day. TRD is proprietary to Toyota corporate. Dan Friedkin (owner of GST) figured out he could outfit a truck at low cost to make it look more off-roady/sporty, make that truck more readily available to dealers in the GST region, and keep the premium for himself.

I like the black trim pieces and wheels (although the finish on those wheels doesn’t always hold up very well). Not a fan of the sticker, but I’m generally anti-decal.

My 2017 XP. Originally bought in North Carolina, it now lives in FL.

 

Not sure, I bought my truck used and it had them, the wrap, roof rack, and front and rear steel bumpers. I lucked out!

 

So I was on a fire recently where some of our folks had TSS Tundra’s (rentals) and we were shocked to learn they were 2WD. First guy got stuck in one, and was looking for the 4WD button to no avail. Are they all 2WD? (We were in Texas BTW)

 

No. They come in both 2nd and 4wd with same Add on’s. Gotta look for the 4x4 badge on rear.

 

FYI,
TSS is just a Gulfport dealership add on package on any Tundra regardless of 2 or 4 wheel drive.
Basically running boards, wheels, decals, TSS embroidery on seats and floor mats. All cosmetic stuff.

 

For the record, I do like the look of the TSS and XSP trucks alot. Honestly, the 2.5 gen is WAY better looking than that 2022 Tundra. So I’m glad they come in a 4WD.

Now I just need to find one without paying todays crazy inflated prices. If someone finds one sub $40K let me know (PM Me)

No embroidery on my seats. It came with running boards but told dealer to keep them and give me a discount. Not a fan of running boards. They just get in my way when exiting the truck. Might change if I ever have a 5'0" GF again.
