So when I got my truck the regular halogen fog lights works, now I had switch to LED bulbs for the fogs and it won't work, tried switching back to halogen now this won't work,,, not sure whats going on but now when I turn on the fog light from the factory switch, the high beams come on. Now I checked all the fuses. There's power it all. But when I checked for power at the fog light insert there is no power. Now I did check most of the wiring but before I start slicing or adding in more wires, I'd want it to work with the factory switch. Any suggestions what might be wrong?

You need headlight resistors in line with your leds.

I have these. They are plug, and play. I used jbweld steelstik to mount them to my engine bay wall near the headlight. No drilling or screws.

Some claim that you only need one resistor. I used both because I never saw a definitive "Yes" from others. They are cheap, but I've had mine two years now.

Seems the 2005-06 usually has troubles with LED bulbs.

Sometimes its the brand. Sometimes its the year of truck. Sometimes its both. Call your bulb company and ask what is the remedy.

Yup I got the LED's and that kit and when i powered up the resistor unit got hot as SR$*T in a few seconds. I tried a few others (I picked up four just in case). Screw it man, im going back to stock and just run external lights.

for my truck the fix was rewiring the fog light switch to a ignition switched 12v instead of grabbing 12v off the headlight high beam... and in turn i also effectively did an fog light any time mod.. its nice when they stay on with the high beams now

I think that actually might work. Im guessing you wired it to the ignition line due to the current draw because you wanted to take off the load off the other line?

I just used the unused fuse in the interior fuse block with a add a fuse and ran that to the stalk with a 5 amp fuse. All it’s doing is energising a coil for the relay. The reason I did this is because the fog lights are the reason we have issues with the leds or in my case, a high power headlight harness for running 100w halogen bulbs. A resistor is indeed a fix, but I didn’t want a resistor with my already larger load from the more powerful bulbs

Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
Superbright LEDs sells a CAN style LED head and fog light that doesn't require a resistor. It's what I run on my 06 SR5. The fog lights are polarity sensitive so if you install them and they don't work just rotate the harness.
