That I never thought I would reach a point in my life where deciding to buy a new washer and dryer would be a satisfying purchase lol

Been thinking for awhile now that I need to replace my 20 year old Maytags I figured I was living on borrowed time and one day one of them was going to g down

so after a ton of research and finding a dealer who actually had stock in house I went with speed queen TC5 classic.

delivered yesterday and I must say I am very pleased with the purchase.
Built with a actual transmission, real stainless steel tub on both washer and dryer. Heck the dryer even has a light when you open the door. Wth lol.

Congrats! I recently replaced mine because the other one got “noisy” haha it’s weird, I thought it would be super quite with only 3 ball bearings.
I ended up getting a decent deal on a Samsung S/D at Lowe’s.

Nice - the front lint capture on the dryer makes it more efficient, heat enters thru the back and exits in front.

I replaced my dryer last year with another Speed Queen. The one that finally quit was a 38 year old Speed Queen, so it was a no brainer on the choice. And yes, the washer is also a Speed Queen that is about three years old now. Speed queen is the brand most laundromats use, so it has to stand up to lots of use. I would echo what the first post says. Speed Queen is tough and very reliable, and not alot of the fancy electronics on them that dont last but a couple years.

I like the water part as well. Too many complaints from folks that the new HE stuff uses so little water that your clothing does not actually come out clean.

Never head of them before today....but now that I read the praise and look online, I want to replace mine with these.

Looks like they are branded as "Huebsch" in Canada.

Thats funny ,I have that same SAMSUNG and just replaced that triangle arm on back of tube , because one arm broke causing bearings to go. Not a fun job ,but got it all back together in one day, 150.00 for replacement part, and 2 day shipping. Took alot of pictures during disassembly. It was only 5 yrs old , and I got rid of old Maytag washer and dryer ,that was 25 yrs old but still worked wife just wanted new ,and only got 5yrs from it. Gave away Maytag and still working for them.

Can also get the Speed Queen branded ones. At least one store here sells them. When our Samsung units inevitably die, we're replacing them with Speed Queen.

I'm all about simplicity and do it well. My hope is, my wife doesn't want one with 300 settings, digital LCD touch screen and sweater steam clean option that will all break down in 13 months.

We are due for new laundry units soon and these are now at the top of my list

The only issue with Speed Queens down this way is finding a repair center. None of the sellers of the brand here service them. So you are at the mercy of a commercial laundry repair service that doesn't want to deal with retail service repairs. Which means a week or two out before you can get a diagnostic for warranty repair.

Bought a USA made (I believe) Speed Queen washer instead of big box store garbage a few years back. Works great, built like a tank.

No, this was the case 3 & 5 years ago and hasn't changed around here. 2 neighbors had them, and I had to sort through the issues via an online appliance forum to repair and order parts. Not a life changer event, just something I wouldn't have expected from the brand and 2 dealers in town.

When my non Speed Queen set went 18 months ago due to lightning, I steered away from Speed Queen because of it. Perhaps they have a better a network elsewhere then here in Central Florida? I was quite surprised when I found out.

Go replace it with a Samsung or LG.

When one of the breadboards craps out (and it will within 3 years) you'll again be searching for spare parts, find out a new one costs 60% as much as a new machine, don't always fix the problem, and still find issues with repairmen.
