I've never heard of this before either. It uses a hydrogen fuel cell. I have yet to see a hydrogen recharging station, so the infrastructure for this technology is behind pure EV tech infrastructure.

Maybe a preview of the way mankind will destroy all life.

Fuel cells completely eliminate hydrocarbon emissions by combining hydrogen fuel directly with oxygen from the air to generate electric power. It's the end of "global warming". Next woke, hand-wringing nightmare: A proliferation of fuel cell vehicles will suck all the oxygen right out of the earth's atmosphere. Must plant more trees as part of the infrastructure. :goingcrazy:

But, for that to happen, they'll have to get the price of the poison down to a level where everyman can afford it.

Mirai is not new. Toyota has had it for years.

It was only available in isolated market areas due to recharge infrastructure availability. I think California had a section where certain government offices used it.

Have you ever driven a Prius?

They are pretty interesting really and surprisingly quick and well put together overall,I was shocked at first.

Not for me just from a space to haul my crap point of view but otherwise I really liked the one that I owned1

GM has also had fuel cells in development for years, but has never invested in bringing the concept to market.

The Prius was on the leading edge of technology, and Mirai is following in it's tracks. Mirai is for sale publically, at least in California, with $15K free complimentary "fuel".

The Prius is a great car and extremely reliable. A lot are used as taxis and it's not uncommon for them to have 400,000 plus miles on them.

The only thing I hate about a Prius is when I get stuck behind one. It seems the people that drive them pay more attention to keeping the meter on the dash "in the green" than they do the road. Frustrating following a Prius

I love the Prius and have no problem admitting it. My wife has the Prius V (station wagon / cross over type ) and I love driving it. It actually has good power, is very comfortable and roomy inside, and of course great gas mileage. I recently took a almost 3,000 mile trip from Florida to Texas and back and it cost us $125 in gas. The Tundra would not make it out of Florida for that $.

The Mirai with fuel cell technology sounds very interesting and I have been following it's development - might even be a better option than the Prius, but you need to have the hydrogen re-fuel infrastructure in place to be able to go anywhere.

I tried to find a nice reasonable V when I sold my original 2005 but instead I got out and have regretted it a little bit ever since.

I do work for several Toyota dealers and they all tell me that the Prius is the most reliable Toyota that they sell and by a wide margin really.

Your obviously not following my daughter. She drives her Prius like it's a sports car.

I agree that the Prius is a great car and very well thought out. Too low to the ground for me but great for may daughter who absolutely loves it.

Unfortunately they stopped making the V so we can't replace it. My wife loves it so she will just keep running it. It just turned over 100k miles and we have not spent one penny on any repairs.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Fuel cel technology has been around several years, both Toyo and Honda have them and have spend Billions upon Billions developing them.

They Only emit water vapor, nothing else, well maybe some heat.

They don't sell well due to Cost and locations of Hydrogen refilling stations.

It is electric yet has no battery, so not really like any other electric out there from Tesla and the many, many coming up.

My daughter has a prius, its ok, but full/only electric is clearly the way of the Future. I love the future!
