So I got a 2007 RCLB from a construction company. It was a sadly abused truck with only 215K on the odometer. Purchase price was only $1500. I show a few pics of the interior.
Here are a couple of it on the ground the day I got it

The interior was amazing. I can’t believe that anyone would treat the interior of a truck, company
    truck or not, this poorly.

The headliner is appalling. How can it get this dirty?? Anyhow, $28 at commercial wand wash.
I washed the headrests and visors with pressure washer! They are clean enough for use now.

I think they should have paid you to take that truck off their hands. Good luck with whatever you're planning.

So looking at the box, I was originally just going to use the box as is. There was no tailgate. My search for a tailgate took me across two provinces and hundreds of wrecking yards. I found two that were
750 miles from my place, and they were asking $1400! for a damaged rusty tailgate.
A buddy found one on Facebook marketplace, an old ad from 34 weeks ago. I contacted the guy and got lucky enough to buy the whole truck bed for $850 including Toyota Bedrug. This bed is in mint condition and this is how I got it. So it’s in the body shop today and looks like the whole truck is getting a respray. The guy painting it is the same guy who painted my Land Cruiser 10 years ago.

I bought it to drive on winter to avoid road salt for the Land Cruisers. I love driving my 60, and it’s a magnificent truck. But I won’t drive it in road salt.

Just make it the reliable truck that left the factory. The heater doesn’t function properly.
I bought the entire heater assembly w/o fan motor from a wrecked 2012 Tundra with only 57,000km
on the odometer. So as soon as the truck is home from the painter I’ll pull the entire dash out and
replace the entire heater assembly. I know the two servos on the drivers side are not working, and also
at least one of the servos on the back of the heater aren’t working - Fresh-Recirc servo. So to get to
that I need to dig in far enough to just replace everything. The fan works fine.
The other issue is the timing belt has never been done on this engine. It’s about 30% past when it should have been done. I have a friend who will do all that after paint as well. I’d have down this earlier but with holidays and his schedule it will be done as quick as possible.

Damn, this is the kind of deal I want to find. $1500 and put the fanciest suspension known to man on it and a cage and when it gets rolled who cares :D

    That's an awesome restoration project!

What engine does it have? I thought the 5.7 had a timing chain.

Its' a 4.7 which I guess is the only timing belt engine produced in a V8 from Toyota. Bad Idea.
It's a zero clearance engine - meaning if the belt breaks, the valves hit the pistons, and the engine will
    not survive or be rebuildable.

It's a 2WD. I'd be fundamentally so embarrassed to actually roll a truck I might quit driving. I did have an 8 point cage
on my FJ40 when I ran SOA 38's and 351W on dual ARB's. But never actually rolled it either.

I used to think like this as well. The problem is that the time, effort, and money put into a $1500 truck to make it nice will change your brain chemistry to want to take care of it.

Cruiser I'm down in Seattle and I have factory tan cloth seat covers that I just took off that are in great condition. I could help you pop those on if you want fresher upholstery.

Well thank you, that’s very generous. Here are pics of the seats. They have what I think are
the factory heavy vinyl seat covers over the grey cloth. The headrest did come clean, so my thoughts are car wash for the seats and see if the stains are permanent. I will see if I can clean the seat covers
that I have and then decide whether to put them back on.

Here is headliner, and the new used one I managed to get for $200. That was a bit steep price but impossible to complain once you see ‘how in the f**k did they get a roof so dirty?!’AD8B945C-B20A-4006-AC7D-C509B357FCFC.jpg

The other bits I’ve decided to replace are the seatbelts and the surround behind the B pillar.
Just not going to ever get them clean enough to be respectful
The visors are clean. The door panels I’ve tried two different degreasers and armour all on.
Still can’t get back to black! But I’ll try a couple more tricks. I have to admit. Pulling the interior
is kind of a joke. Thanks to all the YouTube people for your informative tricks. Been a gold mine of info. CE7D9393-D8FA-42BD-9C6E-F7B4FEAFAAB3.jpg5B3532CE-3B09-47B4-A177-89F3643C3726.jpg5481C5D5-EB0A-4FD0-A824-A0059777F5C1.jpg46681876-CA47-4A90-A6E8-9A65368D6CE5.jpg

    No, you're ruining it's charm!

I thought I was the only one here that likes beat to shit work trucks.

Being a steel contractor's truck; it's got 14 years of rust dust, oil, grease, mud, coffee, fast food, and cigrit smoke stains in that thing. I'm surprised the outside isn't in worse shape actually. Well, at least the passenger side anyway.

I’ll try to remember it ‘had charm’ at one point! I just got back from locksmiths $42 to re key the
Tailgate lock. Will pick up the seatbelts and bed bolts tomorrow. Talked to Scott the painter, will
lay a coat of some kind of protection on the bottom of the bed since it’s not on the truck. Told him
we could paint the bottom the day we swap beds - stand the bed on end, shoot the paint, and while it’s still dripping put it down and bolt it to the frame and let it dry in place! Not the best idea, but not the worst.

Couple of quick questions to those who know:
How hard is it to replace the door windows? It’s got electric windows since it’s an SR5 package.

What is going rate for rear chrome bumper? Anyone in BC Canada who has gone aftermarket and has one they don’t want? With current border closures etc, no sense responding from US. Just not practical to consider right now.

Well on its way at body shop. The roof was one of the reasons it was so cheap. They apparently just beat the crap out of it and no regard for the vehicle.
Took an entire day to repair. It won’t be factory mint, but it is solid and unless you are on a ladder you won’t see it anyways.
