I have an issue with the new Durago front hub (from RockAuto) I installed this past weekend. The dust cap does not fit (too loose, just falls out...). I went with a new hub because I thought it would be nice to go all new components on my front-end rebuild, but now I am having regrets. I went aftermarket to save money, but now it's biting me. I bought two Durago hubs and I immediately checked the second one for fitment. They both have the same issue. I am definitely not installing the second Durago hub. This stinks because it took a lot of work to rebuild the knuckle myself and I can't undo this.

The cap is not damaged in any way. It fits with good compression on the original hub. Do y'all have any suggestions on how to make it fit? and stay?

How much are new dust caps that fit the hub?

@carpenter356 exactly why I always try to buy OEM when it makes sense to. As @Stuck in the '00s noted it would be easiest to just get new caps that fit if they are reasonably priced as they should exist. This would save you the hassle of returning the additional hub if you are on the hook for return shipping/restocking fees. If you are feeling cheap maybe consider adding a bead of rtv silicone if the tolerances are reasonable and secure with a piece of tape to hold it in position while the silicone sets up.

I wouldn't worry about it honestly. It's really not going to hurt anything if it's missing.

Smear some anti seize on the exposed threads and run it.
