You mean tonneau covers, Fuels, LED pods, and some decals don't make you more experienced offroad? Back to the drawing board....

Old Stage Road? I got some crazy looks, but I've done that one in a Camry in winter.

I know that trail...steep as S***! Don't know why anyone would ever try it in the winter.

I mean, that is half the fun. The risk of getting stuck and having to work the problem to get out.

Now, I don't wheel with those that are under prepared for slick conditions like this. Radios and proper communication skills.

Following distances for up and down hills should be the length of the hill to safe stop points with radio communications telling the next it is ok to go.

Tire chains and winches with proper recovery gear.

Extra clothes and food for the possibility of more than a day trip.

Sucks for those involved, expensive and scary learning experience. Similar situations have happened before and will happen again to others. Glad no one was hurt.

Actually, I heard one of them had a box of mushrooms in the back and an “I Love War Machine” bumper sticker.

Colorado drivers are complete ass clowns so this doesn’t surprise me. 3 out of 4 are probably from California.

I can't seem to figure out how to share it because facebook is dumb...but search up Colorado 4x4 rescue and recovery on facebook. They were the original photo takers and the ones to recover the trucks, so their post on it has better info on what happened. And the comment section of that post is gold...lol

Yeah...especially offroad. I remember last year I was wheeling 7 mile trail up the Poudre Canyon, and this hummer attempted to do the infamous hill climb in the snow (you just don't do that...razors flip over every year trying...) and he slid off the road and got stuck. Long story short, the kids that were riding with him, rode in my in-laws jeep back down the mountain. And they said more than once to my in-laws that it was "nice to ride with someone who isn't a scary driver."

Hummer was stuck for almost 2 months...

Being a Native of Colorado Springs I have a special kind of disdain for transplants. I guarantee these Tundra owners are not locals. As long as no one is injured I consider transplant folly one of my most treasured forms of entertainment....... I love that the jeep owners had radios and came prepared. My Tundra is for towing. Any real off road driving is done in my jeep.:burnrubber::poking:

WTF. And folks say it’s better to go wheeling with a group. Glad I’m aways solo. At least there’s no one to put me on FB when I fuck up

Elizabeth told me that the Tundra and Search and Rescue vehicles simply weren’t capable enough to help the stranded Toyotas. Her crew of Jeeps, though, was better equipped

Doesn't look like any of them were even aired down (?). An expensive lesson in setup, driving capability, and judgement. 'Island Toyz' ?! Fkn transplants LOL. (I lived in Boulder County for 45yrs)

Nothing to see here, they got to add front and rear steel bumpers and some rubbing compound and everything will be alright. :sawzall:

For sure. That made it seem like they would get the trucks out, but glad they at least helped take the people home. That's the real rescue.

I forgot all about the Island Toyz sticker :kona:
Certainly not at home in the snow.

Brings back memories ... back in college (UW in Laramie) I had the family K5 Blazer. Me and a couple buddies 'took a drive' and hit 7 Mile in January ... just went for it. The old Blazer had no issues ... it was pretty rowdy and epic at times. I also assume the trail was in 'better condition' 31yrs ago. LOL
