    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone experienced brakes squeak on your new tundra.

Mine is a 2016 and only has 600 miles on it. brakes squeak every morning, regardless of the weather condition.

    Oh one or two.
All trucks do it as well as most cars you stop once or twice and it's gone. It's surface rust that develops on the rotors over night usually one tap of the brakes and it's gone.

yup, mine does too. Only when backing up out of my garage. I think it goes away once its warmed up. I asked about it at my first service where they were going to do a brake inspection. Ofcourse they said its normal.

I never had this issue with other vehicles:
    2010 Highlander
    2004 Lexus

My last 2015 tacoma didn't make that noise neither.

Yeah it is moisture in the air forms a thin film of rust over night on the bare steel.

Maybe you didn't notice it or you were applying the brakes a little more then you do now but with light pressure on the rotors just about every car on the road will squeak for the first second or so in the morning.

Brakes squeal all the time, just not necessarily at the frequency within human hearing range. Ya, it's the rust and a combination of the materials. Ever heard carbon fiber brakes? They really squeal. The rust lowers the frequency to one we can hear, when it's gone the frequency is above what we can hear. But imagine what the world sounds like to dogs.....

I have the same problem and it is definitely not rust forming from sitting overnight. I also own a 2007 Tundra and it's never done this right from day one. This is very annoying and I'm shocked that I'm even dealing with this on a Toyota product. This problem needs to be fixed.

It's what JLee said. If it goes away after a few stops, then it's just surface rust being cleaned off. If it continues to do it after a few stops then it needs to go to the dealer.
When I lived in Japan, there was so much humidity and moisture that it sounded like someone was dragging a file cabinet on the pavement when I pulled out of my driveway in the morning. Totally normal.

If it bothers you, you could always just spray some Fluid Film or WD-40 on the rotors after you park it. ;)

My 2011 DC squeals every morning backing out of my driveway but then goes away once i am in the street.

You guys that can't handle it for a few seconds need to get a Caddy or BMW or something.

Should be expected for an old truck. Could have bought either for what I paid for this squeaky old milk truck.

My does squeaks once in while when I first drive the truck out of my driveway. Also I did notice that there is a lot of rust spots on my rotors. I think it just normal as it does go away right away.

I got Tundra last Nov and it does squeak first thing in the morning when the weather was cooler. Now that the weather is warmer, I've noticed it stopped. Got no clue if it's humidity, outside temp, brake pad wear or manufacturer or if it's "normal."

rust may have something to do with it but I think its more than just rust ...

mine has been doing the squeak for a second or two after being parked over night and I park it in the garage and see no rust on the rotors ...
on the other hand, my other cars parked for much longer time outside and especially after a wash, i see lots of rust spots on the rotor but they never squeak. it maybe a Toyota squeak needing more attention like a 92 Octane gas :D

btw, I am glad you asked this question since it has always been on my radar!
after I bought the car I kept visually inspecting the and feeling the rotors and didn't find any anomalies and didn't even bother calling the dealer. I assumed its part of the break-in period or the attention thing you know.

I think there is nothing to worry about the initial squeak. Most of the buses, wife runs a transportation company, will squeak when stopping before leaving the yard and they are drum brakes. All the drives who been driving buses for years say it is normal. If it does not go away, then yes bring it back to the dealer.

that's why I wasn't worried too much since mine does it only once ... they are heavy duty brakes and I suspected that it may need to warm up a little or rotate a few times while braking to clean up the last trip's residue, rust or over night spiders, etc. left over on the rotors ... without any research I have a feeling that is more of a temperature thing than the spiders :D

I have the same thing happening on my 16 Tundra. It's only in the mornings. My Tacoma that I used to own used to do the same thing. What I do now is that I back my truck in the driveway every time I park it. That way in the morning i just pulled out of my driveway and not back up. I have noticed it after that.:thumbsup:
