I think this is simply crazy and not true and certainly not the law?

Those days are fading fast my friend. If they do except it they are suppose to report it to the feds if it’s over 2k and an investigation has to take place if it’s over 10k so most of them aren’t going to want to have their “cash” tied up while that’s happening. They would rather you show up with a cashiers check and a credit card. Instant money for them. “Cash” isn’t cash like it use to be :notsure:

It’s the law. A dealer can except cash but if it’s over $2k it has to be reported and if it’s over $10k it has to be investigated. The IRS wants to know who is spending money and where that money came from. If your money is legit and the dealer will except cash than you’ve got nothing to worry about. It’s suppose to be reported by the dealer. Not saying they all do.

They most likely will. What I’m saying is it has to be reported and anything over $10k will get tied up if they report it. It’s easier for them to get their money if it’s in a cashiers check or a credit card. You can show up with $15k cash to a dealer to buy a vehicle let me know what happens.
Cash doesn’t talk like it use to.
Cash is king if you’re buying private party or drugs.

If your not use to pulling out $10k+ from a bank. Try to go to the bank and pull out $15k cash watch how the teller acts.

    OP.
I bet $100 if you show up with $15k cash, $13k in one pocket and $2k in another and start nagotiation it will take longer to leave with the truck Vs. you show up with a $15k cashiers check and say I’ll give you this check for that truck out the door right now, let’s make it happen. :D

I have done this twice in the last few years and each time at a Factory branded dealer, show us any proof at all of what you claim?

Not that I want to be wrong already so early into the new year?

Cash is reported at the $10,000 mark not $2000. If it were $2000 they would have a money laundering department at Best Buy and every major department store. The reasoning of cash not having the same 'buying power' is that a bank can fund a financed transaction in minutes whereas 20 years ago it was a pain in the neck.
