Running into some design issues mounting my new Yost 750-DI vise. It's a 360 degree swivel, 4 anchor point vise.

    Screenshot_20210101-185334_Amazon Shopping.jpg

I picked up a 1" thick treated oak board at 32" long, 10" wide for a support base to go onto my 2' deep workbench with a 2" thick hardwood top. Grade 8 hardware will be used to bolt the board to the bench then the wise to the board.

I can left side mount it to clear the front and left side of the bench with a long vertical object (used scrap wood to test) to ensure clearance and give me 90 degrees of rotation. My father seems to think I should mount it forward of the bench so that I can utilize 180 degrees if need be (this would entail using a fence post support underneath the overhang). The workbench, although heavy, is NOT anchored at this time and won't be for the foreseeable future. Just moved into this house and new garage space and want to give it some time before I decide on permanent locations for things.

My question: does anyone have any experience with a vise that swivels 180 degrees for a workspace (namely is it even necessary)? I've only ever had a single plane to work with on a vise so just the fact that I can swivel 90 is a huge bonus. I'm not sure if the extra juice is worth the squeeze. Attached a rough mockup to give an idea of what I'm working with (not drawn to scale).

This may or may not help you.
I've had my vise mounted like this for 13 years and never had an issue of not being adequate.
    Please forgive the messy workbench..

This is how I had planned on it, easy and simple. But pops' suggestion has me second guessing lol.

I do the corner mount for 90deg of grabbing stuff. Also depending on what you're doing, Grade 8 is extremely overkill. I just used some lag bolts personally, unless you're trying to hold a truck with your vice, you could save a few bucks if you want.

I'll be using it for some heavier duty work. Yost recommends grade 5 at a minimum. I have a rack of 8s from various projects over the years so I'm just reusing. I think I'm just gonna keep it simple. Can't think of WHY I would need 180 degrees of swivel.
