Trade in my 2019 for a 2021?

    That is not true.
Buying my 2014 in December of 2014, I was offered 0% interest on top of a corporate Toyota rebate and the dealership 'cashback' incentive.
So I actually got 3 perks buying a current year model in December.
They were doing everything they could to ditch the 2014s.

On the flip side of that, my selection was very limited.
I told the salesman, any color but white or silver, that was my only caveat.
He searched the DFW area and sent me pics of the truck he thought I would like.
Looked good to me and I put down a deposit ($100), they had it driven to my dealership.
I looked at it and bought 2 days later, and gave them their loaner back.

Knowing what I know now, I probably would have gotten a Limited over an SR5.
Would have been nice to have the dual zone climate control.
I had them leather added to the SR5, I think they took it out of a Limited (an entire story in itself), and pocket fender flares.
I should have kept the fabric seats and replaced the leather myself.
I ended up buying Katzkins 4 years later anyway, the Limited leather was thin and wore out quickly.

Also knowing what I know now I would have asked for more for my trade-in.
But I was in a bind, my trade-in was actually in their body shop being repaired.
They wanted to get the deal done before the body work hit Carfax and they could wholesale my 10 year old trade-in for more money.
I also think they were in a bigger hurry than I to do this deal since I was driving their 'free' loaner for over 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I’m gonna hold off until the next gen comes out. Or I’ll just keep mine and pay it off and that will be awesome too! Lots of great advice on here thanks again everyone!

    Exactly

edit: but If one is disciplined and is capable of managing debt, zero percent interest among this economic climate, your dollar can go a long long way for toys and other loans. The key is having cash to back it up if things get weird, but also having a nut to save for retirement, kids, mad money and road trips.

:eek2: They totaled that? Looks like it just needs a new steering/axle assembly!

I never stated it was totaled.
I stated NTB's negligence fucked up my (paid off for 6 years) truck that I planned to keep for 5 more years as the result of a SIMPLE TIRE CHANGE.
A tire change on wheels that weren't even mounted to a vehicle.

Door/fender lines were way off after this happened.
Tube step was bent up into the body of the truck.
The vehicle landed on that wheel and tube step and scuffed them both up.

Body shop did what they could and it looked decent, but I wanted it perfect.
As perfect as it was before front wheel collapsed because an NTB employees failed to put the cotter pin in the spindle nut.
It never should have gotten to this point.
With NTB it was one failure after another..

My insurance wouldn't replace the wheel, tube step, and body damage (back to 100%) on a 10 year old vehicle.
They paid the repair (minus my deductible) and sued NTB for the amount and NTB settled.
But I still ended up with a claim on my record and I was out my deductible.
So fuck National Tire and Battery, their incompetent management, and their Walmart Lube reject employees....

    Perhaps I'm a little bitter about it...:eek2::D

I wasn't going to keep that truck and get pissed off EVERY TIME I got in it and saw the dinged up wheel/tube step and crooked door/fender lines.
So I traded it in on my 2014, that I plan to keep 15 years or more..

It all worked out for the better now the 2014 is paid off...

Pro tip: don’t take your new vehicle to NTB for service. Just kidding ;)- that sucks and I’d be madder than hell too.

There's no way in hell I'd be looking at $50k trucks on a $34k income.

i think it would depend on the person's line of business and if they can get a tax writeoff on the new vehicle purchase. if the individual were say a landscaper and made $34k but his business relied of a full size truck, i would prob recommend a new tundra. the gross vehicle weight needs to be over 6k pounds and a 6 ft bed as i recall.

this works well for people running businesses whose clientele pay in cash. they might only declare $34k on their tax returns but make a bit more under the table.
