I re-read your post and understand you could still use some help getting the rack onto the truck. PM me if that's true, and we can figure out when we might text or call and I'll try to talk you through it when you're looking at your own rack. It was a PITA then BAM!, suddenly I "saw" how it was supposed to work (a buddy drove to meet me, looked at the bracket and figured it out in 15 seconds then showed me what he saw. Maybe you and I just think differently. I'm happy to help you if I can.

Thanks for your reply @Sunnier!!! That picture it’s really helpful! Maybe I’m not having a clear vision/understanding of the set up, although the rack supports are a little different (see pic) I have a better idea!

    37C0E633-3E2B-4DA4-ACFD-2981B6BEDCC1.jpg

I was under the impression the factory rails could be used in the small canal between the cover rail and the actual bed; and since the cover original clamps prevent this, I could get the needed space by using only one side of the clamp and and at the other end there cleats which go inside the factory rail.

Your setup makes more sense and I don’t need to deal with the clamps and factory rail!

I’ll give it a try and let you know!

Hey @Challenger1! What did you use to keep the RTT in position on this pic? I've always wandered 'What if I want to go explore the surroundings? Do I need to fold and set up everything each time?'. That set up makes more sense!

    Again, thanks for sharing! :hattip:

I got a “camping trailer”. Custom rails to slide the bed rack back and forth. It’s not the prettiest but highly functional 68CC942B-F2EE-4AAD-92AE-E4F6D9B785AD.jpg

Hey gang!!! Sorry it took me soooooo long to post some pics... things have been pretty hectic for several weeks...

This it's my set up so far... RTT, Rotopax, bed cover and rack... not full form yet, still work on progress :notsure:

I've also started the de-chroming process. Black handles and mirror covers so far!

    :spending:

Man I’m really digging your set-up and would like to mimic it... do you mind recapping the exact build (rack, RTT) and any helpful tips to mounting with your MX4? Any links to your products would be huge help!

Thanks @ardnuT 91’ notsuoH !!! Glad you like my ongoing (neverending?) project...

Here are some links that might be useful:
Honestly figuring out how to attach the rack with the tonneau cover (and it's railing) was the tricky part, shoutout to the support provided by the fellow members of the forum providing pics and tips!

The rack when ordered with no drill clips will include a metal plate to act as a clamp, 'biting' the inner bed lip, cover rail and tonneau cover brackets (additional option for this set up)

Metal plate shown here, with bolt, on the inner lower part of the diagram.

    premium+bed+rack+assembly,+no+drill+clip.jpg

Actual tonneau cover brackets shown here
    max+tonneau+brackets.jpg

My cousin came with the idea of welding an metal rod to the upper end of original metal plate to provide extra grip (then painted the whole piece blue)

Currently experimenting with the Relentless Fab tall bed bars and a 23ZERO 62" Weekender RTT.
Trying to decide if I prefer a RTT, ground tent, or a trailer mounted RTT. Grew up camping in ground tents so I'm use to them just looking for something "quicker."
In hind-sight I definitely would have preferred a taller set of bed bars though. At 6' I cant use my annex without having to crouch down which sucks....

I use my RTT with one of those quick pop up bathrooms/changing rooms. Having an annex defeats the purpose of a quick set up and tear down.

Gazelle is the quickest ground tent and hard shell RTT’s are way faster than the soft shells.

I also was contemplating for a long time to run a rack but went with a camper shell instead to be able to lock things up and have peace of mind.

I have one of the quick pop up bathrooms also. More or less wanted the annex for summer months and all the mosquitos we are blessed with here in Texas.... lol

Agreed on hard shell vs soft shell from what I've heard but having never ran a RTT before and unsure how I'm going to like it, I opted for the cheaper route. Found my brand new used RTT at a bargain so decided to give it a shot!

The rack isn't idea for me. I have ran and love my softopper and would like a rack over my softopper. I personally love my softopper for the fact it is easily removeable and folds down.
Now I can't run my softopper though and if I put a rack over the softopper it's no longer as easily removeable..... So I may have to completely rethink my bed set up! Always something! LOL
