I found this yesterday while looking for an offline gps app for dasaita. VLine is a piggy back that runs on Android and will run waze and Google maps, Spotify, etc.

    https://gromaudio.com/blog/2019/10/...ic-and-here-wego-on-vline-android-car-system/

It works for our oem head unit.

Very cool. I have the non-nav head unit though. Seems silly to “upgrade” to a 10 year old nav head unit, but maybe this makes it worth it. Anyone have a 2010-2013 nav head unit they want to sell?

Holy crap! Thx for sharing. Aside from this do we know 100% that the HU from Dasaita store in Amazon is the most reliable unit? There's another storefront on Amazon that sells the HU I want, built in with AA, (not Kasa!) with 10.0 whereas the Dasaita store only has the one with 9.0.

you can message Iris and request that Android 10 be installed on it. That is what I did and everything arrived as we discussed. I requested a specific screen along with A10.

Mine came with 10.0 and I bought back this summer. Even still, you can easily upgrade via XDA Forums as well. They have the newest patches/firmware/Android versions in the threads.

Does anyone know the diffrences between the different models (Max6 vs PX6 vs PX5)? Also, do any of you know if the latest models have wireless Android auto yet?

Unsure about max6 but px6 is the latest processor chip and is the fastest. Px5 is a generation older. I have not seen any with wireless android auto. Curious why you want android auto? These are a android tablet and can have all the apps an android phone can.

Doesn't the head unit need a 4G connection for some of the functionality, which the phone has?

Most people including myself just tether it to their phone by using their phone as a hotspot.

If you have a Samsung you can use a Bixby routine to automatically fire up your hotspot when it connects to the unit via Bluetooth

    Yes and no.
    Online map then yes.
You can also download offline maps then no data is required.
If you know you will be traveling then you can download your route as offline and it will store in your radio. Use home wifi to do this if you dont have unlimited data plan.

Needs 'a' connection, yes. Whether you use your phones native connection (Android Auto) or if you use a hotspot (head unit connects to your phones WiFi), that's what this discussion is about. Most phone plans have unlimited internet, but they do not have unlimited hot spot.

So that's the rub...if you use Android Auto, you don't need a hotspot. It basically mirrors your phone (select apps that are exposed to Android Auto) to your head unit and you use your phone's native internet (non-hot spot). If you don't go the Android Auto route, then you need to enable a hot spot. Not all phone plans come with a hot spot feature believe it or not. Also, you would need to make a routine to have the hotspot enable, have your head unit join the WiFi network, etc. It's sometimes just easier (and more clean) to use Android Auto (or Apple CarPlay) and be done with it.

Most phone plans have unlimited internet, but they do not have unlimited hot spot (there is a big difference between the two).

I don't have a UL plan so I rarely connect my phone as a hotspot. I added a 4 port USB hub and plug in different sticks containing ripped YouTube vids and movies/TV shows to entertain the family. I mainly play large music playlists on sticks when driving alone.

The downloaded google map on the android unit is a big region and expires in a year. It's not often I use a GPS, if I want live traffic with alternative routes, I use my vented iPhone.

Correct... most unlimited data plans have a hotspot feature available but may not be included in your plan and are available for a small additional fee. AA does allow you to use your phone mirrored on the screen without any additional fees but you are limited to a handful of apps. Only you can decide what apps you want available on your head unit and if having a hotspot vs android auto is worth the cost.

    Connect your phone to bluetooth.

Launch the stock bluetooth app. At the bottom of the bluetooth app screen, there will be a person icon (head/shoulders). Click on that. On the right you will see a 'refresh' icon with two arrows chasing each other in a circle. Click that and if I remember, that will import your contacts.

I thought that was the case but mine doesn’t do it. Once connected I click the refresh icon and it doesn’t do anything. Trying to download them from an Iphone.

@migalo did you happen to get the aux and GPS issues of #4 resolved? I just purchased the HU you purchased and I have a Gen2 Sequoia, too. Thx!

One more in the club! I got my Dasaita built in for Xmas and installed it yesterday. Here's a link to the unit, it's their newest model w/ built in CP/AA.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0838Y9DDX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Like most, I read ever post on this tread and took lots of notes with links to fixes. While a lot of them worked, some of them didn't. I purchased the canbus harness, CB005-1 from the Dasaita storefront. It's supposed to permit use of the factor rear camera...which isn't working, go figure!
    1. There are a few connections from the truck and from the Dasaita harnesses that have not been made. I'm wondering if these could be related to some of the problems I experience below. Refer to Photos 1, 2, 3. It looks like the connectors in Photo 4 should go together but the connectors are the same size and the male connector cannot go into the female connector.
    2. Should I be connecting the wires that go into Port A of the head unit since I purchased the canbus? If so, what do I plug into all the RCA connectors?
    3. What vehicle should I choose for the canbus? I have a 2008 Toyota Sequoia Limited and I do not see a Toyota Sequoia option. Refer to Photo 5. I've seen folks here post about Camry and #8, the #8 wasn't checked yet.
    4. The factory rear camera does not show on the display when I put my vehicle into reverse. What am I doing wrong or forgetting/not able to connect?
    5. The AUX input in my truck does not seem to work. If it is working, how do I access it on the head unit? Dasaita said it would work. Refer to Photo 6.
    6. Is there a way to transfer my contacts from my phone to the head unit so that I can make calls while not using Android Auto?
    7. The rear audio is not working.
That's it for now - thanks in advance to all!

    Few things

I can’t recall but there is an rca bundle that should say CAMIN or something similar. You should have a yellow rca off the canbus harness I believe. Those are what plug together to get the rear cam to work. Almost sounds like you might be missing a harness. The remainder of the rca plugs are for if you use an aftermarket amp.

I’ve heard the rear audio not working on gen2 toyotas because of the communication issue with the factory amp.

Try the #8 setting regardless of what it says it’s for.

did you get the factory usb harness? If not that may be why your aux doesn’t work.

for phone contacts, the only way I got mine to work was to “forget” the vehicle from the phone and the phone from the vehicle. Then repair using the vehicle to initiate the connection. The phone should ask for the 0000 pin and ask to allow for contacts accessibility. Allow that and it works fine.

Thanks for the help, Travis. Got the contacts to work w/ your guidance. Nice to have them there finally, but wish I could sort by Last Name like in Motorola phone. I also set the canbus to #8 so I hope that helped w/ some things. I'll have to look for the CAMIN tomorrow when I have some more time to rip the HU out, again. Did you have a few male and female ends (not RCAs) of the harness and truck wiring that were not connected?

The rear audio does seem to work when I choose Special in the DSP section. Not sure if it is called Special but it is a toggle to a different, smaller vehicle in the section where you can move the sound from All/Front/Rear/Driver/etc. I believe there is the Fader and Delay options in there. Not sure if it was working previously or because of the change to Canbus #8.

Not sure about the factory USB harness. Iris said I had everything I needed to still be able to use the factory amps/sub/etc, the factory rear camera, and factory AUX. Can you provide a little info about the factory USB harness and is it supposed to allow the factory AUX input to continue to work?

The HU I got had 3 female USB ports; 1 for AA and two for ??? It seems like they all slow charge and non fast charge. Is that confirmed? Also, what are the two used for and how did people terminate them? Pics/links please. I want to put add a dual USB port to one of the rectangular blanks to terminate the two black USBs and I was thinking of adding a dual AUX IN/USB to my AUX factory location. See links I'm considering. Also thinking of wiring in a dual/triple USB 3.0 to the rear of the front arm rest for the 2nd row seats so they don't have to use the inverter & plug.

@minter66 - did you ever get your fader working? Not sure I can live without the ability to fade as intended. I, too am 90% sure mine was balanced @ 50:50 before removal.

I had a couple plugs that were not connected but not a bunch. There were a ton of RCAs not connected but still needed that harness to get the rear cam to work.

My truck has an aux in as well but its all connected thru the factory USB harness as there is a USB next to the AUX. I know the factory USB works but I have honestly never tested the AUX because I use bluetooth to listen to music off my phone instead of the aux connection.

The additional USB plugs are just that.... extra. some people route them to the glove box.... myself... I don't really have a use for them so I tucked them neatly behind the dash so I could access them fairly easily if needed. I would think your dual usb idea should work plugging those into those extras.
