Do you have a picture of the light output or a link to the product? I was going to retrofit my headlights but those might save me the trouble

Little update. It's been a while. I got rid of the GFC for multiple reasons. Mainly wasn't using it enough and sold it at a good time that I made some profit on it. I redid the entire camper with new powdercoat and seals to make it brand new then sold it. V2 was coming out and a lot of people had different opinions on if they still liked the steel frame vs the new extruded frame. I was lucky enough I finished my rebuild and someone had given me full price of what I was asking for. Love the GFC. I might get a V2 but the Superlite kind of fits more of my needs.

I loved having an enclosed shell in general so the next best thing for me was the find a fiberglass shell that had the windoors on the sides like how the GFC is able to open from all 3 sides. I found one in the MGM but it was out in Utah. I made the trip out in May as one of my first summer trips and it was one of the best and worst purchases of my life. The seller basically didn't have any of the original hardware that it came with and claimed that he did. He expected me to drive home to California with the shell strapped down with ratchet straps. That definitely wasn't going to happen. Whatever. I left pissed because I drove all the way out there for this very reason and he didn't hold to his own word. But I got what I wanted. We visited the Bonnevile Salt Flats while we were out there and got some fire photos.

I am a big fan of the shell though. I found it with the windoors and in the color of the truck which is a win-win for me at the end of the day. What I didn't realize I would use as much is the top roof rack that the guy made. Really useful and helpful when I want to go down to Newport and go paddleboarding.

    IMG_3281.jpg

The inside of the shell is all raw fiberglass and the roof rack has got some surface rust on it.
So I have a plan this winter to take off the shell and bedline the entire thing to create rigidity within the shell as well as fully water proof the bed. I don't really know what that is going to entail, but any suggestions are welcomed. I am also going to take the roof rack apart, get it all powdercoated and put it back together.

Truck is now sitting on BFG KO2 37x12.5 R17 with the RW wheels. These KO2's are AMAZING! I am honestly never going to go back to a MT tire because I simply don't use the truck that much that I would need a MT. Definitely slower on the throttle response, but the truck does well on the freeway at 75mph @1800- 2000RPM. No plans to regear at this time. Truck is now the extra car in the family so it can sit most of the time if it's going to get work done on it. KO2's run small and it honestly looks like 35's from the pictures lol.

    looks good.
KO2s are great tires for us in California. imo no need for M/T unless you go maybe crawling in a Jeep.
I run the 35's and yes they look about the same as my previous 295/70 Toyos.

Good idea on the fiberglass. They have the spray on Raptor liner DIY.

LMAO I definitely think these 37's are going to be the biggest that I go. I just wish they fit underneath the bed for a spare. Now I gotta figure out where I am going to keep my spare...

yea I am excited to get that project done. I would entertain doing a possible internal cage to give it even more rigidity. We will see what the future holds.

I took out my rear seats so that the spare can lay down flat. I use a threaded rod to keep it in place. But the end plan is to stand up the spare up against the rear wall/window.

Yup. 40s take up way too much space in the bed. I currently strap my cooler on top of the spare inside the cab, when it’s laying flat, but it’s a frickin hassle. When the rear seats are folded up they take up 17” of space. When I stand up the 40s it’ll take up less space. It just makes sense to stand them up.

Might be a stupid question. Might not be a stupid question... but doesn't the tire smell stink up the cab?

I'm all for new tire smell :rofl:but idk about it seeping into the seats

I kinda wanna do the westcott designs dual tire carrier but maybe with my own custom touch. Same design but have everything removable. Something about making the truck look like an SUV romping down the roads ;)

No smell. Tires are used and got all that rubber scent out. Plus, it’s a lot easier to lift tires into the cab, using the sliders as a step, than lifting up into the bed. My bed is high as fuck and is going to get higher

Did you get to meet Big Mike from GFC?

I had them come to my place in GA when they were on there Warranty Tour.

Super cool cat! That company’s work ethic and mantra kicks ass!

I like that idea. Those are sweet. I think I may check out the AluCab this go around. I have their Expedition 3 on my trailer and love it.

Yea I have a buddy that opened a shop dedicated to basically outfitting trucks with Alucabs setups. It's pretty cool. Gonna see if he can help me out with my shell and getting the whole bed setup waterproof hopefully.
