Coolant comes pouring out, fairly clean, from this spot on the underside of my brother's truck. Though it was a crack from a rock and was going to QuikSteel and JB Weld it but upon cleaning and closer inspection it looks like maybe this hole was intentional and the plate going up to it was simply damaged. It seems to be where the engine meets the transmission and any insight is appreciated.

That is really strange. I don't recognize that black part you circled. You are positive it's coolant and not ATF? They are about the same color.

drain pipe, my 93 SC400 has 2 of them... I do believe the Tundras have them as well for AC and coolant overflow

    EDIT: drain hose/ drain pipe..

Yeah, sure its coolant. I can pour water or coolant in and watch it start pouring out that spot underneath once it makes its way there. Don't really feel comfortable plugging or patching something up not know what it is.

Can you remove that bolt you circled and see what's behind that plate?

Yep, drain hole for the torque converter housing. IF it's coolant, then it probably IS a freeze plug. Yeah...No, you don't want to stop that hole with J-B Weld. That Easy Button not working here. :D

So it's probably leaking from above and this is the easiest path down I'm guessing...?
@ToyotaWes see if you can trace the leak from above.

@empty_lord said there is a Freeze Plug on the back of the engine hidden up in there where the transmission connects. Another member posted up a leak in the same location the other day. Might be a cold weather thing happening.

i'm confused b/c it seemed like it was coming out of that hole, not just running down from somewhere else. I'll add more water to the radiator and get up closer to confirm that. Truck is in Mississippi so I doubt cold temperature has been the culprit. Thanks for the insights

If you're losing coolant, then it may actually be coolant leaking from a freeze plug on the back of the block in front of the torque converter.

While it may not yet be freezing in Mississippi, the ambient temperature is getting lower, so there has been a temperature change that could precipitate differential expansion/contraction leading to a vulnerable freeze plug leaking. I only know about the presence of freeze plugs on the back of Furst Gen blocks because I read the Furst Gen experts @empty_lord. The upshot is you're looking at pulling the transmission to fix the problem. Stopping up the drain hole is only going to delay and exacerbate the problem.

I thought your brief explanation could use bit more verbiage, and yes, I give you credit as having been in attendance when @empty_lord expounded. I don't know Jack about Furst Gens unless I get it furst hand.
