I've noticed that ever since they quit making Levis jeans is the US the quality, fit and feel of them is really bad. They're still expensive. The plain old Kirkland jeans I bought at Costco are way better. They still felt like the old Levis. I think I paid like $12 a pair.
I still have a few pairs of the old Levis but most are a bit out of style like the loose fit baggy style 501'a and tapered leg style 550's. I liked the 505's best but I wore them all out.

I have an orange tab and a silver tab that are still holding up. I stopped buying Levi’s about 5 years ago I had two pairs rip out the back pockets and one the crotch tore out. I bought a couple pairs of diesel jeans after that and 5 years later they are still holding up. Not cheap but the Levi’s cost me $50-60 and lasted less than a year. These cost $100-140 and have lasted 5 years and still going. :notsure:

I have some old American made Levi jeans I no longer wear, what size do you need?

Yeah, I noticed the same with Levi’s. They tear too easily now, or at least mine do.

I buy old red tags 501 and 505’s on eBay when I’m feeling the Levi vibe. Cheap and already broken in. Just give em a good wash and they are ready to go.

I’m also disappointed with Levi’s. They rip at the seems. 505’s are still my favourite look on my son, but the quality isn’t worth the price. I’ve had the seems come loose during the initial wash before wearing.

I've worn Levis for the last 20+ years. Recently I've had 3 pairs, bought and worn within the last year, that have all developed holes within months. The other thing that was particularly interesting about them was that some of them began to tear at the knees, which happens because I work outside a lot. When they tear I noticed that fabric is different, that the thickness of the denim is thinner and that it has less stretch. They actually feel a bit like a waxed paper. I had hoped it was just the one pair, but now I've gone through 3 in the last year, unfortunately I am done buying them.

I quit buying Levi’s because of their particular stance on a certain amendment.

I will say I’ve been buying wrangler retro’s and they’ve been great

Some are not all that young. I agree though. My jeans were usually in the rag bin long before they got that bad.

I wear 502's almost exclusively. They aren't overly thick but I have had good luck with them. Washing them less frequently, inside out, and with cold or warm water extends the life. I try to pick them up only when I find them on sale.
You're welcome for this housewife pro tip.

They left the US (manufacturing) almost 20 years ago. Are your issues more recent?

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/levi-strauss-shuts-all-us-plants/

I used to only wear Levi’s as they fit me the best. But making overseas and NOT dropping your prices sent me looking for another brand years ago. Plus their politics. And I hate all the local stores that carried them. And then all their models suddenly became variants of nut-hug roll-ups.

I have not tried any of these, I sort of get what ever Costco carries or I found some Carhart flex fit jeans that I really like. Unfortunately the Carharts fade out really quick. I stopped wearing Levi's when they decided to stop contributing to the Boy Scouts when the Scouts would not allow gay scoutmasters. That was probably 20 years ago.

I used to only wear Levi's 505s. Price went up to $80 a pair and I kept ripping the front where I carry my phone in my pocket so I said enough of that nonsense.

Went to Mark's Work Warehouse maybe a year ago and bought the cheapest store brand they had ($35) but the pockets are already starting to hole through on these, too. Maybe I'll try the next level up on terms of price whenever I start working again and feel like going to a store.

Still got some 560s that are a bit tight and think I can wear again someday, lol. 501s were good too.
Durability wise I have been liking Ariat. I get flame retardant for work but wear at home doing chores and out as well.

Yep, that’s been my experience as well. Torn at the knees and the fabric feels somewhat thinner than what I remember.

I don't really care too much about labels and brand names, but I have some Levis that I bought on sale when Sears closed down. I don't see them to be better in quality or fit than the cheaper Walmart Wranglers etc. that I have, so I would never pay full price for them. I recently got a pair of Kirkland jeans at Costco for $4.97 a pair. I only bought one pair to go try since that price did not make any sense to me; I though it would fall apart after the first wash. I wore it for about 2 weeks and it became my favorite pair. I went back to Costco to stock up on those but of course they did not have any of those anymore. I then tried their Buffalo brand that was $9.97 and it is also good as far as fit and finish. Again, I should have stocked up on them.
So, long story short; I would never pay $80 for a pair of jeans when I can get them at Costco for under $10. They actually had Levis, 505 for $29.99, which is a lot better than $80.

I actually took a photo to go show my wife. I could not believe that I could get a pair of jeans for $4.97.
