I have a 2012 Tundra I was wondering what to use a 52" curved or straight one. Also if 52" was the perfect size.

Just got the tracking number for mine. Will be attempting the install this weekend if the glare off the hood isn't too bad. Found out about that possible issue after it already shipped. Supposedly its an issue with white trucks, but I think the negative slope of the hood might be okay. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Curved for sure.
Mine is a 50" and I wish it was a 52" I think it would fit the width of the roof perfectly.

I'd advise against the roof mount. i really hate mine, its useless, nothing but glare back from the hood, and the wind noise is unbearable.
my A-pillar lights on the other hand, those are tits. tons of useable light and no wind noise. on the next truck, no roof led.

It does has some glare but I love mine. The light pattern makes a big difference bc this is my second bar as this one is 1,000 times better than my first as far as glare. Also, the way mine is mounted it whistles. One thing I've read is to put some felt underneath to kill the whistle. I just haven't felt like taking mine off to do that.

I ordered some door trim molding (the stuff on the edges of the doors ho help prevent dings) to combat the whistling issue. I am also going to be putting another bar in the N-fab bumper when I get it So I will have options on what to use depending on the situation. I'm still hoping the glare isn't horrible. I'm gonna mock everything up before I start drilling to see, though. I wouldn't be opposed to putting some matte black vinyl in the center of the hood to help, but I'll have to see how big of an issue it is..

Did you go from a spot/flood combo a different type? Or low end bar to high end bar? It hard for me to tell if yours is a combo from your pics..

I went from a shitty eBay bar that I couldn't figure out for the life of me where the seal was leaking from and it kept filling up with water to a better quality bar.

This is the new one. They were both spot/flood combos. I'm going to replace that lower one soon with the same brand and put it inside my center bumper cut outs

Very nice. (Borat voice). This is basically the exact setup I'm going to be doing. I picked up a cheapie 42" curved bar from Amazon, that appears to be an actual Cree from what I can find. I'm going for the front end like in @boardudes "fuego" build and will be getting the same bumper he has (sorry to steal your thunder). The roof bar is a Freedom 52" 5D curved combo bar from Rago fab, $420 shipped for the whole kit. Supposed to be quality without the $1k+ price tag. I don't do a lot of night time off road driving, however, so I'm not HORRIBLY concerned about glare, but it sounds like it COULD be a royal pain in the ass, hopefully not.

Thank you for chiming in, it's always nice to get both sides. I should have done my due diligence before making a buy like that, but I'm going to see how it goes, and report back. Expect the worse, but hope for the best..

I'm surprised about the wind noise. What kind of noise is it like a whistling noise because I have a set of Thule Refracture and it made a noise like that. Do you have any pictures of the other lights I would like to see them if you do thanks

the wind noise is HORRIBLE... not bad, horrible.

it gets really old when you're driving for a long time. i had to fill in the two lower fins and that helped some, but its still loud and obnoxious.

Figured I'd throw this up here to keep everyone updated. Got it installed last weekend. The wind noise is not bad at all. I used door edge guard on the lower 1/2 of the light bar. I get a slight whistle when it's windy, and I CAN hear the wind around the bar with the stereo turned down and the windows up (so hardly ever). IMO, I don't think it's bad at all except for the glare off the hood. I do have the justofforad.org guard, but I'm waiting on the extension brackets, since it is currently too narrow for the bar. Any questions, let me know.

I've got to ask the question.....why?

Why have something that makes a bunch of noise you can't do much about?
Why have something that apparently has the opposite of effect of the goal? I don't imagine a bunch of glare coming off your hood helps, and in fact is probably a driving distraction?
Why have something that changes your night vision every time you have to turn it off for any oncoming traffic - then back on - then back off?

I get if you're driving in the boonies by yourself it would have advantages, minus the noise and glare - does that happen very often to justify spending some good dough on something with a lot of disadvantages?

I could see one in the front bumper or grill, but don't get the whole roof headache version. Aside from destroying the aesthetic symmetry of the entire cab, it doesn't seem like a very functional "upgrade".

dragos28 and Fly'n Family nailed it....nothing like telling it the way it is with honesty...loud miserable wind noise is a fact when you install anything square over a smooth engineered surface. Cool eye candy yep looks cool..but man brutal on a road trip. And 99.9% of us on here are on road more than off.
I would never buy or install unless I was running the Dakar Rally

why would you just be cruising down the road with it on? I've seen a couple truck driving on the freeway with it on and it serves no purpose.
I think here the goal should always be usability but some have a "want" for the look since LED's came out of nowhere as a modification

I've had light bars installed on every rig i've had in the last few years and I would DEFINITELY do it again. I have a 52inch sitting in my garage with brackets and hardware, just need to find the time to install it. I've heard that some brackets don't necessarily compliment the bars and create some wild wind noise, I have the socal brackets and have only used them once before and they are tits. really like them. If installed corrected, you can just remove and rtv the rivets and call it a day. granted there will be some upkeep to make sure your sealant lasts through the elements, but for some extra light, it might be worth it. I loved mine for night driving while in the woods and never had it on aside from that.
I think turning your led bar on during the middle of the day serves as much purpose as wiping before you shit!!!

I guess I've got to ask why you feel it necessary to establish what has already been said in here. If you don't like it, or don't agree with it, there's nobody sating you should do it. For those of us that decided to perform the mod, we obviously felt SOME SORT of need to justify doing it. If we can justify it to ourselves, then we shouldn't have to justify it to some internet stranger. While good points were made on your part, with all politeness, **** off.

Your "**** off" was uncalled for and rather contradictory to what this site is about. If you can't handle someone questioning legitimacy of why a mod was completed then maybe a "free speech" forum isn't for you.

    Do I like criticism? No
Can I handle it without back handing someone? Yes

There is a ton of decision questioning on this site and your reaction and words back at him are not appreciated. It turns a forum negative quickly and the vast majority of us are not on board with that.

I have the right to be offended (although I could have been more diplomatic about it), you have the right to call me on my BS (which I deserved), and the above poster has the right to his opinion. That is what free speech is all about. That being said, I apologize for violating the forums decorum, and it will not happen again.
