I changed my battery the other day. The truck started when I connected the terminals. I forgot the turn the valet on. anyway, I stepped on the brake and the engine stopped. I put the key in the ignition and turn it and the the engine will not turn over now, won't even spark. I've tried everything I can think of which is only about 6 basic tricks. Anybody know what I did wrong and how I can get the truck to start again.

Have you tried jumping it via the relay... Turn the key to the 'on' position remove the relay and jump it via a wire, paperclip

Have you tried locking the doors with the key fob and then unlocking with the fob. It’s got something to do with an anti-theft feature on the 1st gens I think.

Thank you all for your help. I want just to update this status in case anyone else comes across this...

The onboard computer for the remote start was fried when I connected the battery and it started on its own. The alarm computer then went into lock down mode as if it was being hotwired. Once I pulled the alarms computer out and capped off the wires, it started right up just fine. The keyless entry still works with the locks and the alarm even works. It just does not have the remote start function anymore. But I can live without that.

Super weird. I wonder how I missed this one? Huh. I have a love/hate relationship with aftermarket alarm/keyless systems.
