I've never been more than 6 inches off the ground, what should I expect?

So these are my current cars but as I was in need of a truck I ordered a new 2021 TSS tundra out of san antonio and had it shipped here to GA site unseen (should be here within the hour)
I have never had a truck, nor did I test drive this one. What should I expect?

Also, as you can see by my lexus I like to modify cars and from briefly reading I hear the headlights suck on tundras so should LED lights be my 1st get? if so which ones?

Also this seems to be a decent buy on a cover with decent reviews has anyone gotten one of these?

    thanks in advance!

Welcome from MD! What do expect.... really where to begin IMO.

obviously you know every vehicle rides different and it seems you have been into the “luxury” side of vehicles. Trucks in general have a “rougher” ride to them, it’s not ground breaking and won’t make you get ride of it but it won’t float down the road like that Benz would. I say that but I have a 2020 Platinum that I bought for the ride so to each there own.

Idk how you drive but if you do not have sway bars and what not installed, even if you do, on the Tundra you will probably feel a little bit of body roll on certain turns at a higher speed but again nothing ground breaking. The trucks have a ton of room so you will not be disappointed in that department. They are comfortable.

Now that you have a truck/will have a truck you will never not own one again!

When it comes to the head lights, mine came with leds which are more than enough so I would ride around first and than start diving in if need be. You might have the ability to raise/lower the angle of the lights as I do so that will help tremendously
    good luck

Give yourself more room to stop. I think this will be the most important thing to remain cognizant of the first couple days. The truck will be heavier and will not stop on a dime compared to what you're used to. You're likely to wind up 1/4 of the way into the first intersection you need to stop at.

It will also take a bit more to get up to speed, so be careful shooting the first few gaps merging onto the freeway.

While the Tundra isn't bad, it will feel less connected in curves/turns than you're used to

Being higher up, it may take some time to gauge distance to your front/rear bumper when parking etc. Also, being longer, remain aware of where those back wheels are when making turns. Even now, occasionally I'll misjudge the right rear and jump a curb. More embarassing than anything, but in a parking lot/garage you don't want to drag a rear quarter panel across someones bumper when turning into a parking lane.

After a few days, you'll have a good feel for it and wonder why you didn't get one sooner.

Oh, and welcome! Lot of good folks on here when you have questions or need help. I Haven't modified mine outside of adding a Retrax bed cover, but there are a lot of posts/info out there on almost any mod imaginable . I foresee several hours of searching/reading through the site in your near future!

    Welcome from PR!

Coming from having several cars myself and a Jeep. The Tundra has been one of the most enjoyable to drive and modify. You will have a blast even trying to do some mods on your own.

    Enjoy your new truck!

Welcome from GA! It will take some getting used to. Just go slow and easy at first. The view is a lot better from up here. As @Jernik said, give yourself a bit of extra time/room to stop and accelerate. Let us know what you think after you get some seat time in. And post pics of your truck please! I crave pics!

If you are coming from a sports car background the main thing I would expect is some body roll in turns and the steering wheel being a little more loose. You can always get sway bars put in if you don't expect to do heavy offroading.

Besides those two factors its a pretty comfortable ride and takes time to get used to the dimensions. Most parking spots will be a tight fit and your ass will hang out.

Some models have the LED HL, you can upgrade bulbs or upgrade the whole hosing. If you intend to tow some of the aftermarket housings don't have the light leveling option.

That tonneau looks like a Retrax knockoff. I would check reviews for the Retrax to see what the common problems are.

I have an Ultragroove Metal, its fairly water tight with some minor leaks here and there. Besides leaking, the other issue is the cover gets hot in the sun but the heat doesn't radiate too much inside.

    Enjoy your new ride.

You won t take curves like the cars. That s for sure. A warning beeper will let you know the trucks limitations.

    Welcome from Georgia.

As mentioned, the truck will not make turns & corner the way your cars do. You can add a rear anti roll bar to improve turning & cornering... I hung the leaf springs under my axle, this leveled the truck and further improved cornering. This mod did not reduce ground clearance.

"Warning beeper"? Never heard that, maybe I just don't drive hard enough. What scenario's would cause the beeper to sound?

Yea. I m guilty of pushing truck:D I think prolonged curves is when it sounds off. I haven t heard it on quick sharp curves even when the truck is really leaning. The first time I heard it was when I took a freeway offramp a little too fast, and it startled the sh*t out of me. This was before I got my lift. There was a 25 mph curve a couple hundred ft into the ramp, and I was going bout 50. (I think whoever designed that offramp was on crack.) Since installing 7 in lift I have to take curves even slower.

I drifted into the marbles @ 90+ while driving downhill on a scenic sweep to the left on an interstate in Kentucky or Tennessee. This was my 1st official road trip in the old RCSB, and I felt the ECU kick in ... it really did help me drive out of the marbles and return to smooth pavement without me touching the brake pedal... I didn't lift off the gas, I just trusted the electronics and steered myself down the mountain to an exit so I could refill my coffee cup. This was before I was DAPtized, so I hit the rev limiter several times.

I look forward to repeating that trip with the mods I have made since then.

Have situational awareness since you might not be able to see stuff close to you. You can see everything which is awesome, but if a car is close to you (particularly behind you) their roof line might not even reach the top of your tail gate or window sills. The rest is pretty obvious shit like everyone said.

If you are prone to driving in a spirited fashion, you should consider installing an Auburn LSD. I will have mine installed late Spring of '21

So the adjustable headlights...is that what the dial is on my dash for?
Is that something i want to keep if I switch to LED headlights? if so which LED headlights would i have to get?

What are the best raised black TUNDRA letters to get? or does it matter and just get off Amazon?

thanks in advance and Im sure Ill think of more questions soon

    A bunch
For LED's you basically have 2 high end options - OEM LED's with a harness (@iHacker makes a good one) or Morimoto XB's. Both are similarly priced so it comes down to the different style and which you prefer. I can't remember if the Morimoto's work with the adjustable headlight dial, but the OEM's obviously do.

If you plan on towing you'll want to retain the adjustable lights. During towing, the weight on the tongue causes the rear to squat. Your headlights will blind oncoming drivers in this situation. The knob is the only way to adjust this. So its a safety and courtesy issue.

Amazon has several versions of them. There are metal ones and plastic ones.

2X This. When you first start driving your Tundra, it's like being on the island bridge of USS George Washington. Truck in all directions, until it suddenly ends, and then...who can see anything about to get crushed, scraped, obliterated, etc?

You eventually get acclimatized to driving a huge mass almost blind.
