    Hey guys,
I got my new to me 2010 Tundra Crewmax TRD 4x4 2 weeks ago and wanted some input on MPG's. Ive been calculating the MPG's and im getting about 11.5 right now. This is mostly street driving with some hwy. From reading some of the posts here and other forums people are getting better MPG's. Does this sound about right to you guys?

Just a little background, my last truck was a 2005 Tundra AC 4x2 with Icon susp and 33in tires so im used to getting low MGP's lol.

    Thank you in advance!

So far I've filled up with chevron 87, mobile 91 and Costco gas 87. All three are getting me about 11.5 mpg. Calculations are from the trucks computer and manual calculations.

I just went on a hunting trip from Mass to Montana with a 650 lb 4-wheeler all kinds of guns and hunting gear and we got 16.3 mpg on the way out and 16.7 on the way back avg each way. speeds were from little town speed limits to 85mph. And that 38 gal tank sure is nice and I have stock tires on it right now..5400 miles total

    Update.
I went to dealer on Saturday and told them about the mpg amd they said there isn't anything they can do about that. I asked them to check the intake/exhaust but they said no because the check engine light isn't on. Is there anything I can do to have the dealer check on this?

The reason why I brought my truck to the dealer was because I wanted to get my brakes checked out for vibrations while braking and a clicking noise when the 4wd hi is engaged.
They're gonna replace my brakes and rotors and they said there maybe something wrong with my transaxle. They still have my truck cuz they still need to talk to extended warranty reps. They gave me a loaner to use in the meanwhile.

I got 17.8 us-mpg driving mine home on an 11.5 hour highway trip, have not calculated it on short local trips at all.

OP, what sort of milage on yours? It might be due for spark plugs and other maintenance.

I'm getting 11.5mpg manual calculations and tundra computer calc. This is mostly city driving with some hwy. Everything stock. I was thinking of changing spark plugs and cleaning the MAF sensor and checking the air filter.

Sorry, what I really meant to ask was how many miles on it. I didn't word that very well, did I? LOL. Sounds like you're thinking what I'm thinking on the maintenance items. Won't hurt to check the basics.

Maybe I didn't completely read your question. Lol. My truck has 44000 miles. I bought it 2 weeks ago with 43000.

Translation: They won't do anything about it under warranty. I'm sure they will happily do it if you pay them, in which case I would find a better dealer, or a real mechanic.

Search around on this forum. There is a few things you can do to improve this.

When I owned my Tundra, I was getting 9-10.5 mpg towing 8-8500 lbs.

    I would research the following:

Alignment specs. The toe in specs on these trucks are pretty liberal. I would have it set at the lower end of those limits.

Tire pressure. 30-33 psi on the door jam is just way to low in my opinion and really sucks up the fuel due to rolling resistance.

    Charcoal filter in the intake....

    Clean MAF

    Good quality fluids

Some vehicles just do not get good fuel economy numbers. My 12 CM received great economy until about 60k. After my front differential change out, even after changing the break in lube I couldn't get the economy back up.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your truck? I just picked up a 2014 1794 that is doing the same thing. All stock. 11 mpg hand calculated. 11.5 on the dash.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
My 2007 Tundra 4x4 (with 450 pounds worth of extra gear and accessories) consistently gets around the same thing. I do about 1/2 highway, 1/2 street driving. When I pulled out the ECM and Fuel pump relay for a few minutes. I actually got better gas mileage for about 200 Miles, then it was back to normal. Basically the ECM is going to adjust the gas usage per each driver. Many times the ECM is not efficient, at doing so. If you feel like removing the fuel pump relay for a few minutes, then reinserting, you may get better MPGs.

These trucks are gas hogs. Rear-end gearing in addition the the motor does not make for good MPGs.

Just checked my, new to me, truck tonight after the first full tank of gas. Hand calculated I got 12.6 MPG. The average MPG according to the computer on the truck showed 12.9 MPG. Most all city driving with one 40 mile drive to airport. The speedo is accurate to within 1 MPH according to my GPS.

Where did you read 14!? It's always been ~26.4 for the 2nd generations. The generation 2.5s have a capacity of ~38 gallons.
