So my number one co-pilot and partner in crime, Zeus, recently pinched a nerve in his neck. Most likely a result from him jumping out of the backseat to the ground.

Now i am in the market for a ramp, or any alternatives. I was thinking something I can keep in the bed all the time (really an excuse to buy some mole panels) .

    What are you using?

If it was me, I would build something simple, safe and durable as I usually have some 1x2 or 2x4s and plywood laying around. Even if you needed to buy material it is probably cheaper than buying anything "ready made". I did a quick search for dog ramps and it looks like they are about $100 for something decent on up to over $250.
Could be a fun project and you could make it easy and simple or as cool as you want$.

This is my next project after I get over is this covid

    upload_2020-12-15_15-0-41.jpg

these dudes love to cruise and believe it or not this 63lb bulldog will jump right into the back seat. We also have an older female that just lays on the back floor ( she loves cruises too, in fact she is usually the first on out the door.

with my sliders the way they are I think I can do a simple plywood ramp on a hinge with a 2x in the slider gap.my biggest fear is that the dogs get there leg caught in the gap and fall backwards

Maybe a chunk of engineered flooring joist? I load my dirt bike with it, so its plenty strong and quite light.
I let my lil buddy jump into the truck but always lift him down to the ground.
We are going to need a pic of said doggo.

I'd like to make a ramp as well for when my dog exits the truck. He loves jumping in though. He's a heavy boy and I don't want him to mess himself up jumping out, although he does some pretty crazy stuff on the trails and I'm sure he can handle it, he's 4.5 yrs old and I'd like to get him adjusted to exiting with a ramp before he gets too old

That's exactly why I removed our OEM steps. I read on here about dogs getting hung up in there.

We have trained ours (45lbs) to wait and I lift her in, she jumps out from feet area ok.

Probably a good idea to just build what I want. I did a quick Google search and I didnt find anything I liked.

I typically have extra building material around as we are currently remodeling our house.

Would it be easier just to pick the dog up? That's what we do for my 70lb dog when he loading him in the bed of the truck. I also don't let him jump down as I don't want him to get hurt.
