More information needed?? LED bulbs? Aftermarket taillights? Check the fuses? Looks like it’s should still be under warranty...

Looks like you may need a reflash on the ECU or PCM.... That was part of the recall for the 2nd gen from 07-13 the brake override came from the ECU reflash as to neuter your truck's power once you press the brake pedal to prevent any unintended acceleration... May be a stealership thing...

Pull the negative terminal off your battery and let it sit for a while and then reconnect and see what happens.

okay guys sorry about not getting back on right away. I had a friend of mine hook to the truck with his scan tool and it showed the brake switch to be bad. Took truck to dealer and they said that it was a fuse that blown I checked all fuses under the hood before I took it to the dealer. Is there a fuse box or something under the dash that I can not see lol. I have the truck back I just want to know what they could of done to fix it and not tell me the whole story

Yes it’s by your left foot when sitting in the drivers seat. You’ll have to stick your head up under the dash to see it

Okay I hope this can help somebody out. I had the same issue, after replacing my factory tail light with another oem tail light.
After installation I started the truck and it wouldn’t let me shift out of park. I got the brake override malfunction fault. Turns out the fuse marked STOP in the cab cluster(not under the hood 10amp was popped. This happened because I didn’t put the bulbs in the new tail light assembly before installing it causing an open circuit and popping the fuse. Hope this helps somebody out.

Hi I am having the same problem. I have aftermarket tail lights for over a year and no problem and now I can barely go over 20 miles and that same fuse blows. I even put a 15amp fuse it lasted longer but still the same issue. What tail lights are you using? Also we have to put the same bulbs from the original in there or use something else? Thanks in advance for your help!

An open circuit would result in zero current flow, not a blown fuse. Possibly, the bulb prevents the tabs inside the bulb socket from touching causing a short circuit with no bulb present???

This condition can also be a faulty brake switch.

I had the same problem 2019 Tundra. Pre-collision system malfunction, break over-ride malfunction, trailer break error, visit your dealership error codes. My shifter also locked up. I was able to drive home by pushing the shifter over-ride button on top of the steering column. The break lights wouldn’t work but they work with the hazards on. My fix was a 10 amp fuse in the panel under the steering wheel. I found it by doing a continuity test with my meter. The reason the fuse blew is still a mystery. I do have aftermarket tail lights but they are at least 3 years old with never any issues. I’m starting to look into my viper alarm system that is hooked into the break pedal switch to kill the engine during an alarm occurrence. Hope this helps.

Figured out my blown fuse problem. Aftermarket tail light LED resistor fell out of its mount and the unprotected soldered connection would ground out on the truck body. I installed heat shrink to the connectors and secured the resistors with high grade 3M double sided tape.

I had the same thing happen after I changed out tail lights for aftermarket from 1A Auto. It was a popped 10A fuse. I put in a 15A fuse and put back the stock lights and have had no problem.
Can I use my aftermarket’s with a stronger fuse or is this just going to cause more electrical problems with the wrong fuse?
Is there any other fix to this so I can use the new lights?

Bear in mind I’m not a mechanic and have little to no mech skills.

    MarkTRDPRO,

I wouldn't risk a higher amp fuse. If you have high current draw it could melt the wiring or socket assembly. IMO you need to find out what is wrong with that taillight assembly or replace it/them. Could be just a poor connection or bad wire.

Long story short, I tried changing out my broken tail lights with new LED tail lights. I figured out most of the issues and solved them by putting my old tail lights back in. I’m still having an issue with my key fobs not working anymore. I’ve put in new batteries in both keys and they still don’t work. Additional info: when I get into my truck and put the key in the ignition before turning it to start, the dome light fades in and out and the dashboard flickers on and off. Anybody know the solution?

Do you have LED cargo lamp bulbs? I think those interfere with the key fobs for some reason if I remember correctly.

No, everything else is factory installed lights.

Very strange, any other non-factory add on's like alarm or remote start?
