    20150326_175638.jpg 20150326_175421.jpg 20150321_160607.jpg 20150321_155826.jpg 20150321_155818.jpg So I added my Tekonsha P3 brake controller today. The new switch panel is from Parts.com. The new panel had to be filed down about 1/16 of a inch so you can tilt it up enough to see the display.
    I fastened the controller in the back with some adhesive. It holds very well. You can reach the manual thumb controller with ez.
    I was able to order the new wire harness from Etrailers.com to fit the factory harness.

    That looks good I purchased the panel today I have the harness and I bought the prodigy 2 brake controller will it fit in the panel also . So you just basically glued the controller in place is that right. Isn't there any place to fasten it ?

    I left the mounting bracket on the controller. Then put some adhesive in just a couple places to secure it, It didn't need much. I tried different ways to secure it so I can take the controller out when not using it. But really could not come up with a good idea. I guess you could fab a different bracket. After I secured it in place I wraped some black weather stripping around it in the back just to fill in the open space.

    That is exactly what I will be doing with my 2015 Tundra and P3 Tekonsha. You said you kept the mounting bracket on and used adhesive. What did you fix it to? It may be obvious once I get the panel, but just wondering... Thanks!

    If you install the controller from the back side of the new panel it will only go in so far. At those points I just put a few daps of a good adhesive on the points where they both touch. I should have taken some pics of that part.

    It only cost 21.75 but they add 2.00 handling fee pluss shipping so the real total is 34.79 I know cause I purchased 1 last week

    I am new to this site and me like everyone else has the brake control dilemma. I've been reading a lot of posts about what the best way to mount my P3. I have purchased the dash panel and harness. Spent most of my day yesterday working on it and this is what I could come up with. I was able to find a piece of black plastic panel from my local specialty auto store to use as a face plate for the front of the controller. I wanted the finished install to look as clean as possible. I made a template then transposed it to the panel, then tweaked and tweaked until I was able to get it exactly to line up with the side holes of the P3 and use the large metal braket. All my measurements were approximate, then I just filed and sanded where needed till it fit just the way I needed. Any imperfections I filled with some foam I use to insulate my pipes and electrical tape. I used a zip tie to fasten the metal bracket to the switch above it. The controller is held in by being sandwiched by the bracket screws and the added face plate. Seems tight and cannot fall out. I have posted a few pictures. I have to say it's not great but I think it will work just fine.

    As for the 2014's, looks like the panel will work. But I think from what I've been reading the brake control harness is still located behind the lower left quarter panel by your leg. And also still has the old style connector. The harness might not be long enough to reach that far. This is only by what I read on this site. Could be wrong though.

    I just picked up my camper this past weekend. Towed it home about 100 miles. I have a 2015 dbl cab, 5.7. This was the first time towing with the tundra. It pulled it like it wasn't even there. My camper is 27' and weighs 5000lb, plus any gear that's in it. With no sway bar. Hugh improvement from towing it with my Tacoma.

    I also up-graded from a Tacoma to a 2014 Tundra. We take the TT out this weekend and looking forward to see how it handles ! To be Honest, I was not disappointed in the Tacoma's capabilities of towing...... But as Captain Kirk would say "Scotty me need more Power" !

    I picked up the panel from speed world FX. Not sure if it's just located in my town or a franchise. But the guy knew exactly what I was taking about when I explained to him what I had in mind. I only used a very small corner of it. It's soft enough to sand or file with a dremel. Just be careful, it does get hot. I have a couple of blisters to prove it. After burning two of my fingers I finally caught on quick.

    Everything Bee said is correct. You will need the harness from eTrailer which is different from the 15 models. I don't have a part number as the P3 I bought was used and came with the harness.
