To bad your buddy didn't read the regulations, otherwise he wouldn't be dealing with that issue. Colorado boating regulation 33-13-107.1 allows for a person 14 years old to operate a boat providing they:
    (a) Completes a boating safety course approved by the Division of Parks and Wildlife; and
    (b) Has a boating safety certificate issued by the boating safety course provider in his or her possession.

Yep, like I stated, if she had done that, no problem. Live and learn I guess.

Well I don't know that I've ever seen the police on a trail.... And on some of the stuff that you run on I really doubt a cop car is going past the trail head.

In spite of today's......well, I'd like to say pussification of our country, but probably am not allowed - I give my kids - when I think they're ready and when they've more than demonstrated they are - the opportunity to grow, to learn through success and failure, just as I had in a different world as a kid.
He boats, knows the rules, and commands his vessel (with me onboard) better than most adults on our lake. We're also friends with the lake patrol folks, and he goes out with them often.
He has a Nissan Armada for when he can legally drive, but we go to open empty spaces and he drives it. In spite of it not needing it, I already have him changing the oil and doing minor repairs - we recently changed out the brakes together. Here's his set-up:Proud Captain 7 27 2016.jpg
In addition to the aforementioned, he's also already becoming a 6140Papa.jpg skilled pilot - and about 6 months ago did his first take off and landing with me only shadowing the controls. Considering its a Comanche 250 that has a lot of torque and power, he's doing a hell of a job.

Life's to short to be pussified - learning things the right way when they're ready isn't a bad thing.

My point exactly. I do think some kids can operate machinery and things like you posted under supervision.

Kinda crappy that the park rangers in Pueblo popped her. She was just putting along. I could understand if she had been driving like a jackass...but that was not the case.

31 days till splashing the summer toy's - freakin' can't wait. Wish the lake opened up for us now - it's suppose to be pushing 80 this weekend. And of course it will snow on Mother's day in May - like it has the last 3 years in a row. Ugghhh....

    Ready for summer...

I love it! Have you considered picking up a two stroke 200 or 250 and setting it up for riding woods?

I've actually been thinking about it lately.. I've had the itch to ride with the weather getting nicer, I think my fiancé wouldn't be too happy with me though lol. We'll see though, maybe in a couple years I can have a little more leeway and get a woods build going

I'm all in dad mode now and rarely get to ride. When I finally do I can tell I'm rusty. I used to race Hare Scrambles as a kid, I would like to get back into it. I would need a different bike as my 125 and 450 don't do well in the woods, at least not as well as a 250 two stroke.
