I'm right there with you. Mine may get $2500-$3500 if I ever sell it.

I'm kinda wondering what a 2nd gen in that shape/condition would go for...

I saw a 2002 1st Gen on schmeggsliss that was in major disrepair with a blown engine AND had a second replacement engine that would come with it for $2500. Looks like they got in over their head. Looked to be a transmission in the bed too. Who knows? Maybe a scam. You’d fetch more for yours I believe.

Sold for $32,500....that's just STOOOPID...and I LOVE these trucks. Somebody had way more dollars than sense...or just so much money they don't know what to do with it. Must be a nice problem to have...

Nah. I think humans - many of the guys I've met over the years at least, and one or two of the women - have this wild fascination with things that are virgin or near-virgin, and the more-rational ones of us who feel that way prefer them a little older and near-virgin. If we don't suffer from this fixation on how virgin something is, there's also that burden of emotional attachment to stuff, especially 'the one that got away' or regret over something lost or sold at some point, willingly or not.

I suspect whoever the folks were stuck in that bidding war to the end probably fit in one or both categories. I saw several low-mile 1st gens in the PAC NW during the months I spent trying to find mine, and virtually every single one under 40-50k miles was in the $24-28k range. Do I think it's sane? Hell naw. Would I pay it? Hell naw.

But that's also coming from someone who bit and bought a low-mile 1st gen listed one state over around $16k, which some folks thought I was absolutely insane for doing. Didn't really hurt, I traded in a long-paid off low-mile, twice-wrecked 7-year old loaded Hybrid Camry KBB valued at $8k plus somewhere in the ballpark of $4k cash after tax, tag & title to get it.

My truck may've had a little more than double the mileage, but I know for a fact mine had been regularly driven at least a dozen or two miles every day its entire life and was serviced regularly. Who knows what the winner is in for based on how long the truck was sitting around before someone spit-shined it like that!

Might raise my ask to $19.5k now. Things are frothy up here.
