No it doesn't. It has two guide posts and then two holes for what seemed like mounting bolts but doesn't need them (you'll see what I mean). It is held in by the guide posts and the new panel.

I bought my 2015 truck yesterday from a dealer and got them to sweeten the deal with tossing in the break controller and dash piece. I just need some confidence and removal advise to get started.

It really was that simple. Just pull the panel off, plug in, and put new panel on

Added Towing mirrors, replaced IBC with a Tekonsha P3, Timbren Rear Bumpstops Springs, Rear Bilstein 5100 shocks.
Everyone here seems pretty happy with their integrated brake controller (ICB). I purchased a 2016 Tundra a couple of months ago and found Toyota's IBC to be pretty lame. Even with the gain set on max (10), I could not at all feel the travel trailer's brakes kicking in when pressing on the brake pedal. My experience with brake controllers is that if the gain is set too high, you can have too aggressive braking which can lock-up the trailer brakes. To think you can set these on the max setting and not feel anything is scary. I've been to the Toyota dealer twice. We took a road test with the trailer hooked up while the truck was wired to a diagnostic computer. All the readings showed the IBC working up to all specifications. The bottom line for me is that I want to know and feel that my trailer brakes working as well as not have my truck do more of the braking then it should be. As a result of this situation, I replaced my Toyota IBC with a Tekonsha P3. What's your experience with your IBC?

Crew max with tow package short bed with sway control and trailer brake assist. 5.7 v-8 engine.
I've been a Toyota owner since 1984, I just bought my first Toyota truck 2017 tundra 4x4 crew max, with a tow package and a 5.7 v8 engine, short bed. I bought it to tow the trailer we are getting next week 32' 5,690 pounds dry weight, 7,800 pounds gvw. I've already bought a weight distribution hitch with sway control since the tundra isn't rated to handle the numbers of my trailer and now it looks like the trailer brake controller system won't do the job either. I called Toyota customer service and they told me they have no records of any complaints about this situation. My suggestion is that anyone that has experienced this problem they need to call and complain or Toyota will never do anything they need to do to fix it.

This topic has been on this forum in several spots and multiple times with no success. I have even said/commented that I have a direct contact with an individual at NHTSA. I've called out to the creators of this forum with no success. I don't feel comfortable just handing out this contact and posting his/her name to a forum. Also I don't have a TB so I cannot vouge for the problems so someone with a TB will have to complain. So If you feel you would/could benefit from contacting this individual I will gladly share with you their contact info in a private message....?

I don't believe that the flaws in the factory controller are the same for everyone or universal. I added the controller and don't seem to have a problem. I don't tow heavy very often so I'm not absolutely sure it's trouble free. I strongly recommend anyone that does tow and has the factory controller, test the capabilities thoroughly with some high speed emergency braking in a location where there is nothing at risk before getting on any mountain grades or in traffic.

I found an OEM one on eBay from a Toyota dealer and says from 14-16 waiting on the guy to respond back if not I'll be looking at that too. Got a new quad so rather pull in trailer then the bed

What's weird is that the plug according to YouTube is down by the left foot of the driver tucked in by the ebrake wonder if it's the same plug and Toyota just has an extension wire to connect the stock. I know a lot of people complains about the OEM brake but my buddy installed his and no complaints

Yes there is a white wire if you have a 2014 or older. I bought the plug adapter on eBay for around 10 that includes the correct white wire with ground. If you have a 2015 or newer all the wireing is on the right of the steering column and is literally plug and play.

I watched a video on YouTube for the install. Super easy took 10 min.

My understanding is that prior to 2015 the break controller will not integrate with the dash display, but with an extension cable it should install in the dash the same way as 2015+ Correct me if I'm wrong but that I understand. Either way the Toyota one is dangerous, and thus I have both until they come up with a fix/update.

Only the 15 is a direct plug and play. My understanding is the 14 has its wiring in a different place, different connection and the dash display is not linked to be integrated

I've read through this entire post now, and have seen many 2015 model year success stories with this IBC. I went this same route, purchased the new bezel and a used controller from eBay and installed it, but the dash display is not coming up..? Any idea what I need to do in order for this to work? I've got a 2015 model. It was originally a Canadian spec vehicle that was converted to the US a few years ago before I bought it.. Were the Canadian Spec's on the 2015 different in regards to the IBC?

    Thanks,
