    Tonight was operation “Driveway alignment”

I made the mistake of taking my truck to Firestone to have it aligned after “Operation replace the entire fucking front end”. I’ve noticed it’s been a little twitchy since I picked it up but we got our first good rain the other day and it was downright scary how loose the front end was. I seriously felt like it was on skates.

Anyways, I crawled under it tonight and the driver rear alignment cam was facing down, not even in the tabs, plus my steering wheel has been cockeyed since I picked it up. Needless to say, I’m not even gonna bother taking it back to have them fix it because honestly, I don’t have any confidence that they could remedy anything. Here were their specs when I left. I think it looks pretty decent except for the positive camber, according to DJs specs anyways.

And here is my after that was done with a Harbor freight angle finder, several beers, and the help of this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/how-to-do-an-alignment-at-home.136/

I’ll work on scribing the toe tomorrow but for now I’ve got it eyeballed C/C and it drives like an entirely different truck. Plus, I was able to get my fucking steering wheel straight.

You know it. If I could finally get all of my projects for this damn truck finished then I could clean the garage up a bit and brew again. I built a big ass system so that I could get big ass batches and consistent results. Unfortunately that also means big ass cleaning days both before, and after the brew. Hell, Ive got a new 20gal mash tun that has been sitting there for 6+ months and I haven't even thread taped the fittings. :anonymous:

@Thrussn I'm still really curious why you're cracking headers like this. I have spent a week at a time a few times in the mountains where it didn't get warmer than 30f in the daytime and mine didn't crack. That should rule out temperature. I have bounced my truck plenty and been airborne a few times, I wouldn't think I have been less rough on my truck than you have on yours.

I don't think there is a hanger on the driver side at all if memory serves, it is all supported by the header and the y pipe connection. I think the first hanger is right at the y. Maybe get one of those clamp on hangers and see if you can relieve stress with it by supporting the driver side?

There is a single hanger that's on the driver's side. It's after the cat.

I think that extra hanger is my only real option. I am going to replace the collector gaskets and the y-pipe gaskets with those remflex ones since they're thicker and soft. I really hope that adds enough give to prevent another fracture.

Got a p0118 yesterday. Picked up a coolant temp sensor and put it in. Watched a guy on the tube do it with the intake tube still on, looked annoying.

@FirstGenVol got the tacoma full brush guard, found a guy in Colorado that pre fabs the mounts all I will have to do is weld a mounting plate to the end of the frame horns. He said if it all works out well he might sell kits for us tunders.

This does not look bad at all. I've been toying with the idea of trimming and bedlining my bumper cover....

Changed my oil today. Captured a sample for Blackstone labs. Gonna have them test for coolant in the oil. I also washed all the cow shit and mud off from last weekend.

It was on the 15 headed south through Sinaloa, dusk was setting in and wanted to get off the road before dark so I didn't inspect the bumper until I pulled in for the night. I have a dash cam and forgot to save the video. Been going through files looking for it but no luck yet just a lot of 5 min long desert vids lol. I'll keep yall updated on that one haha

Its been a while and had to look up Luddite coming from the guy that can’t post pictures here. :D

Its easy. Copy and paste man. Only trouble I’ve ever had is a double loading (a problem only on this site?) and that is correctable by erasing the double load before clicking ‘post’.

I upload photos directly here. Check my thread. I abuse the feature.

I will say that the photo feature on here is fairly basic. I wish on desktop they didn’t take up as much space as they do when you insert thumbnail for the photo. It still uses full monitor width and on desktop I have either a 27” or a 34” monitor to choose from and that wide, lots of photos overpower the content.
