I would not say this is a dumb question. What would be dumb is to go ahead with the BMC without considering the risks, as you have smartly done by asking the internet (@BravoDeltaRomeo :boink:) Tundras.com members have been known to save each other from themselves from time to time.

In thinking about this more. Why not just put less money into a leased vehicle. Run the tires on stock wheels so you don’t have to do a bmc anyways

I wouldn't do it because you don't own it and if the catch it they might not accept the lease return and make you buy it.
    Good luck with your decision.

Would you be okay with a tenant modifying a rental house without your knowledge?

This. I can’t fathom anyone would consider or advocate for a modification like this to a vehicle you don’t own.

You shouldn’t need the BMC. What wheels are you running?

U should only need to remove the mudguards and light trimming in the front

    Thanks everyone.

HBJEFF, good idea about running stock wheels. My truck came with the 20”, so would need to sell my methods and buy some stock 18”.

I don’t feel comfortable doing the BMC so thanks guys. I’ll keep you all posted. Lol

Yet another reason I always buy new.

Why doesn't the OP take off all the good parts and replace them with crap?

Do you guys think it will still rub with my 295 70 18 on stock wheels? They are Toyo Rt.

Seems like a few would do anything that can get away with. I have plenty of chances to steal from the store too, but I don't

This thread is really shining the light on some people's moral compass, unless I'm just missing the joke.

You can fit 295/70/18 without a BMC. There's no way to know for sure if they'll rub on stock wheels unless you try it. I would avoid doing the CMC at all costs on a lease. You never know what they might say at the end of the term. You're supposed to return the vehicle to stock when you turn it in, in most cases atleast.

Agree with others that you may owe repairs if Toyota notices when you turn it in. I'd also try the stock wheel or alignment first since I ran the 295 on a previous Tundra without the BMC.

Question to those who are opposed to this a moral issue like stealing or chopping up rental house or screwing the next guy.

Is the BMC detrimental to the structural integrity of the truck? If so I could see the screwing ty next guy argument but from what I've read on here the BMC does not negatively impact the frame.

Not looking for a moral argument, although the internet is the place to look! Curious as to the mod itself being harmful to the truck.

I wouldn't do it purely because I don't own it. That is good enough for me, but to answer your question: If (I don't know if it can, but somebody mentioned it earlier) it can really be marked as having frame damage then you are negatively impacting the value of the vehicle. That would qualify as "screwing the next guy" even if the real world structural integrity wasn't compromised.

Yup, I can picture a banker reviewing a loan app... "Body mount chop? Whats that?"

Next scene- banker is on Tundras.com asking if he should approve a loan for a Tundra with a body mount chop.

This is correct. Lease returns generally go auction. The auction house is usually manheim and Manheim will report frame damage to carfax. Frame damage whether damaging to the structural integrity or not will devalue the vehicle heavily and therefore screw the next person.

Better yet, turn that thing back in & go buy you an older Tundra with a similar payment. Sure it won't be all shiny and new.....but it'll be yours to do what you damn well please with it

    Hey guys,

Maybe I’ll purchase before my lease is up. This way I can do what I want to it now. After I purchase.... I can always sell if need be. Who knows.

I’m doing one on mine, and my truck is leased. I want to add a 2” lift and some 35’s, but I have every intention on buying mine when the lease is over, maybe even before.

That is a dumb question. Dealer parts and costs to replace any damage they find to you. Huge money. And insurance can’t cover any. So you bought the truck.
Leases are for people who can’t afford the truck they want.
Also for people who don’t care about money and want new every 3 years.
And for me, 1 time, the rates were so good a three year lease cost me 1000 for a 3 year test drive once I bought the truck.
New truck sales are for the rich and those willing to spend a premium on first owner. I have done that twice. Toyota at 18yrs with help and a few years ago for my wife to get her the exact truck she wanted.
The only smart money is in the used department. Research and low miles saves a ton of cash. Further, making a smart move almost pays for itself when you have no monthly. I cringe at the “are you buying the 2022” questions.
No way. Not today and not a first year roll out.

Well that sure is a lot of assumptions in one paragraph.

So, leases are for the poor that can't afford what they want.
Buying new is for the rich who don't care about money.
    Only smart people buy used.
So by that math only dumb people buy new or lease.
Did I understand all that correctly?

Or better yet, they may even replace the frame and then bill him for it. As leasing companies usually do with vehicles which require repairs and after, they bill the lessee.

I can’t remember if it was on here or TacomaWorld, but someone had either a leased truck or trying to trade it in with a CMC and called the truck totaled due to frame damage.

I no longer do them for members due to liability if in an accident (wheel deflection).

Mine was poorly worded, I wouldn't put it like you did either.
I have leased and bought new and bought out a lease. That would make me poor and rich and dumb as you read it. But like I implied, I way over generalized - sorry about that.
